Got Weekday Plans?
maybe we need 9:30 colours so as to identify each other… then again i'm a total grumpy bastard in real life, so you may not want to meet me :D

Going to shows by myself has actually helped me catch up on my magazine subscriptions. The only downside is if you have to use the bathroom, you lose your spot. On the occasions I do drag a friend to a show, I tend to feel responsible for their well-being. If it's a crappy concert I'm apologizing all night.
Anyway, I tend to view attending concerts as watching TV. I watch TV by myself, so going to shows is like watching TV without the barco-lounger. Wait, there's an idea. Hey, what's 9:30's policy on bringing your barco-lounger?
unfortunately no lay-z-boys are allowed in the club… trust me i've tried :D
Oh well, couldn't hurt to ask. I guess I'll just have to make do with the couch at the Black Cat.
I fly solo at most of the concerts I attend. Because I'm a loser, baby. Well, that and none of my friends seem particularly adventurous when it comes to music. They seem to have a couple favorites that they're willing to see in concert, but that's it.
I always bring a book to read on the subway or while waiting for it. Sometimes I'll read in between sets at Black Cat shows, but it's not really feasible at the 9:30. Not enough lighting. The Black Cat has good lighting to the right of the stage and you can sit there. Anyone want to start a book club at the next BC show? :) I'm currently reading Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian. Good stuff.

As for the bad lighting at the 9:30 Club, you have to buy one of those little penlights that attach to your key chain. Yet, even more tricks of the trade from a solo concert-goer.
wow kind of weird I don't have any weekday or weekend plans and I see this post. I don't mind going to concerts alone, its cool to hear what people talk about and sometimes you can just jump in at the right time. I should try that drunk next time but i dunno if that would fare well.
