Best first and last songs on an album?

The first three to come to mind:

"I Wanna Be Adored" and "I am the Resurrection"

"Tangled up in Blue" and "Buckets of Rain"

"Singapore" and "Anywhere I Lay My Head"
Some of my faves are:

Joy Division – Unknown Pleasure (Disorder, I Remember Nothing)

Air – Talkie Walkie (Venus, Alone in Kyoto)

Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation (Teenage Riot, Trilogy)
Not a definitive best but some pretty good ones that happen to be in front of me on iTunes.

Aces High/Rime of the Ancient Mariner - Powerslave by Iron Maiden.

Welcome to the Jungle/Rocket Queen - Appetite for Destruction by GnR

Ace of Spades/Motorhead - NO SLEEP 'TIL HAMMERSMITH by Motorhead

My Generation/Won't Get Fooled Again - The Kids are alright by the Who
Prince "Let's Go Carzy"/"Purple Rain"
Beatles "Sgt. Pepper"/"Day in the Life"

I couldn't agree with this more. Nice one!
Have you listened to the new album yet? Any good?

Maybe it's because I'm listening to it right now, but:

"White Light/White Heat" & "Sister Ray"

Y'know, I've been flashing so hard on the new Slayer, TV on the Radio, and Comets on Fire (based in part on your thumbs up) – plus like a spoiled fat kid I picked up the new Mastodon at lunch today – that I haven't even opened it yet. I found the Benjamin Breeg song on-line and I like it a lot though, so I'll get around to the album proper soon enough.
"The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. One" and "Two-Headed Boy Pt. Two" (NMH, In The Aeroplane…)

"London Calling" and "Train in Vain" (The Clash, London Calling)

"The New Year" and "A Lack of Color" (Death Cab, Transatlanticism)
"Hold My Life"–>"Here Comes A Regular"

The Replacements "Tim"
Stereo and Fin - Pavement, Brighten the Corners

Hells Bells and Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution - AC/DC, Back in Black

Number one… "Janie Jones," the
Clash, from The Clash.

BARRY
Ehh.

ROB
"Thunder Road," Bruce Springsteen,
from Born to Run. "Smells Like Teen
Spirit," Nirvana, Nevermind.

BARRY
Oh no, Rob, that's not obvious
enough. Not at all. Dick, did you
hear that?

ROB
Shut up. "Let's Get It On," Marvin
Gaye, from Let's Get It On.
"Airbag," Radiohead, from OK
Computer.

BARRY
(sarcastic)
Ooh! A kind of recent record!
Rob's sly declaration of new
classic-status slipped into a list
of old classics! Nice! "Let's Get
It On?" Couldn't you make it more
obvious than that?
my favorite: "imagine" / "oh, yoko!"

honorable mentions:

"sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band" / "a day in the life"

"like a rolling stone" / "desolation row"

"baba o'reilly" / "won't get fooled again"

"gimme shelter" / "you can't always get what you want"

"and it stoned me" / "glad tidings"
