Willie Nelson Busted In Louisiana
BREAUX BRIDGE, La. - Sept. 18, 2006 (UPI) – Country star Willie Nelson and four members of his entourage were busted for possession of marijuana and mushrooms in Louisiana Monday morning.

State police stopped the singer's tour bus outside of Breaux Bridge, La., for a routine inspection and when a trooper stepped inside, he immediately smelled marijuana, trooper Willie Williams told the Lafayette (La.) Daily Advertiser.

Nelson and four others on the bus all claimed ownership of the 1.5 pounds of marijuana and 0.2 pound of mushrooms, so they were each charged with misdemeanor drug possession, the newspaper said.

If any one person had claimed ownership of the large quantity of drugs, he would have faced felony possession with the intent to distribute.

So, they routinely inspect Willie's tour bus upon entering Louisiana? Noticing the troopers name, it could be a bad case of Willie envy.

Willie & Co. weren't arrested. They each received misdemeanor citations.

But still, 1.5 lbs of pot and .2 lbs of 'shrooms!! :eek: :eek:

I don't understand how a person doesn't get arrested for having that much weed on them. Stupid fucking celebrity leniency. I hate that shit.

I wouldn't doubt that the celebrity status didn't help, but if you take that 1.5lbs of weed and divide it by 5 (5 people all claimed it was theirs) it probably falls within that state's legal limit for personal possession.

The shrooms I'm stumped on…I thought possession of any hallucinating drug natural or not was a felony!

thats a LOT of weeed still . thats like FIVE OUNCES A PIECE!!!!! no fucking way are you allowed to have 5 Oz of personal weed in Louisiana before intent sets in.no way in hell. mon frere.

addendum: in most states, laws about possession and intent to sell vary. If they are watching you for selling and have reason to believe you were or if you had a pound bagged up into dimes, then you get intent to sell, a felony. if you are just stopped randomly and perhaps have one huge bag of weed (and are a famous musician) then you may just get possesion.

it usually up to the discretion of the police officer. so yes, he probably DID get off light cause he was Willie Nelson, but who cares.
