I've been to shows where people were just as in the show in the balcony as on the floor…
Originally posted by Bags:at the massive attack show, the floor was unbearable because of the incessant chatter. upstairs, the sound was better and people were much more respectful of the performers. had i stayed only downstairs, i would have left the show disgusted.
However, I never go upstairs as the energy is pretty flat. Downstairs in the crowd can pose sight problems sometimes, but there's a lot more energy, dancing, camraderie, etc.
i've had great experiences both up and downstairs, but i generally prefer the floor near one of the bars - however, make sure the crowd is really there for the show and not for the scene.
The men i've known who liked wilco have been generously endowed.
I'm sorry to you and your "wife" weird little man.

Come to think of it…lots of shows I've been to, the whole club was moving, shaking and getting into the show! I just think it's a little more tamer upstairs where you don't have to worry about a pit breaking out.

I suspect the energy level is going to the same at a Jenny Lewis type show whether you are up or downstairs. Shows that attract the High School crowd will be full of people into the show regardless of there they are.
People who end up in the balcony probably want a different experience from a show, maybe they go there to enjoy the music away from the madness of the people bumping into them, johnny come latelys forcing their way up front, they had a long day a work on want to sit for a bit.
It's silly to dismiss those who end up there. It's not they are less into the show unless they are yacking away which is just as likely to happen on the floor.

It is Fletchers that had(s) the no readimission policy.
