personally there are times when seeing a show at the Birchmere is good thing… had the Love "Forever Changes" show been at the black cat, i suspect mr. smith would have been quoting Tony Montana to the hipsters chatting away at the bar.

I don't think it's any great revelation about the staff at the Sushmere.
Kosmo…I agree, some shows are well suited to the Sushmere. For example, I really enjoyed seeing Marianne Faithfull there.
excluding the "rules" the biggest differences between the birchmere and the 9:30 club is the atomsphere and character. walk into the birchmere and it feels sterile and contrived capped off with overpriced bland food. where as the 9:30 club feels real, not something built in a strip mall. the 9:30 staph have personalities. plus the dj's are better at the 9:30 club :D
So I guess the David Byrne shows at the Birchmere are not going to be as good as the one at the 9:30 in 2001? That one may have been one of the very best shows I've ever seen in DC.
