So whats the word on the street about this current tour? setlist, Paul's state of mind, band, etc?
My sinuses have been on strike all week and will probably result in another early crashout. Have heard his newer material but nothing is really sticking to the walls of the cranium. Saw him on what may have been his first solo tour, and he clearily wanted to elsewhere. He in fact actually left the stage aburtly and his band did an off the cuff cover to fill time. Tommy Keene has toured with him in past, but it would appear not this time out.
So besides it's Westerburg is this a good one to attend this tour?

Yeah, I'm still deciding whether or not to check out this show as well. Dave Attel's at Lisner tonight and there are still tix available. If I were 5 years younger, I could do both. :D
Anyhoo, here's the setlist from his 4/16 show in Louisville (it's from etree, thus the numbers):
01. STAIN YER BLOOD
02. FINAL HURRAH
03. IF I HAD A HAMMER (Pete Seeger)
04. KISS ME ON THE BUS
05. GUN SHY
06. AAA
07. MERRY GO ROUND
08. SOMEONE TAKE THE WHEEL
09. LIVE FOREVER (Billy Joe Shaver)
10. MR. RABBIT
11. LITTLE MASCARA
12. LOST HIGHWAY - aborted (Hank Williams)
13. BORN FOR ME
14. HIGH TIME
15. VALENTINE
16. MAKING ME GO
17. LET THE BAD TIMES ROLL
18. AS FAR AS I KNOW
19. EYES LIKE SPARKS
01. SKYWAY
02. WANNA BE YOUR BOYFRIEND (The Ramones)
03. LUSH AND GREEN
04. IF ONLY YOU WERE LONELY (slight fade-in)
05. WHAT A DAY FOR A NIGHT
06. HOW CAN YOU LIKE HIM?
07. LOVE UNTOLD
08. DIFFERENT DRUM (Linda Ronstadt)
09. KNOCKIN' ON MINE
10. CAN'T HARDLY WAIT
11. ALEX CHILTON
12. LEFT OF THE DIAL

I agonized and agonized, and in the end I'm going to Westerberg instead of Ivy, and now that I've seen the setlist – YEAH YEAH YEAH!!! I am so excited. Replacements are in my top 5 (or 10, it changes), but I haven't always been dazzled (or even very intrugued) by Paul's solo output. I've liked the Grandpa Boy "Mono" disc the most…
I think this show will kick ass. Thanks, Random Citizen, for getting me past my waffling.

PS, according to Eddie over in the FAQ, it's close to a sellout – on Wednesday he didn't think there'd be tickets past Thursday. Probably means waiting until showtime is a risky proposition.

Got two tix that I'm trying to ditch for half-price for this tonight. Too lame to make it 'til 1:30am. Send me a note if you care, and I'll try to figure out how to get them to you. Cheers.

You think he's going to play for 3 and a half hours?? (No, I didn't try to do any math on the set list, but is that 3.5 hours??)

1:30 am, would be around 2.5 hours…He doesn't go on until 11pm.
Woops – I told you I didn't do that math…. ;) Thank goodness he's got no opener…

Is he the one that went on to form Big Audio Dynamite? I love those guys! Much much better than the clash.

Kinda meh on the show overall. It had its moments, definitely, but I kinda wish I would have left after hearing "Achin' to Be."
That way, I wouldn't have experienced the trainwreck that followed. That show was probably much longer than it should have been. I like between-song banter and even some pointless noodling, but dayum.
