So even if it didn't sell out, they must've sold "lota tickets"!!!!
:D
Hmmm, and Iota's a much smaller space? Wondering about pre-purchasing tickets. Better safe than sorry, but it may be tough for me to get by this week…

Thanks, pollard.
i wouldn't worry about the pernice brothers selling out the black cat mainstage at all. i just saw them at the ottobar in december on a saturday night, and there were 100 people there, maybe.

i'm planning on seeing smog at the iota instead (though i love the pernice bros), and i think that might sell out, so i suppose i should get a ticket soon.

has anybody heard joe pernice's "big tobacco"? freaking amazing album…

>>> There are no advance tickets for ANY shows at the IOTA!…..first come, first serve……I will be there early this friday for the Kings of The Super Rock Sound!…..The Fleshtones….
is that right? i never relaized that. it sucks because i work until 9 on weeknights. sometimes i get lucky if i know who's working the door, though. i guess i'll keep my fingers crossed.
woo hoo rotten!!!! I'm so there for the Fleshtones as well…..yippee. Good thing Snow Patrol is a late show, as I'll be sleepin' in! ;)

Doubt very much this show will sell out. The album buzz for the Pernice Bros has pretty much died, and though Long Winters are an excellent band, don't think they have a big following.

Other news. Ric Menck, of Velvet Crush/The Tyde/Matthew Sweet fame, is now filling in on drums in place of the guy from the Bigger Lovers.

And speaking of Velvet Crush, Jay Bennett, formerly of Wilco, will be guesting on their next album.
just remember fleshtones, myracle brah and the things at the mojo saturday night, it's gonna be a scorcher

But if you stil lreally want to see the drummer for the Bigger Lovers…. :D
I've already seen him twice. Seems like a nice guy, but not really that impressive to look at, other than being tall.

umm, but how does he *drum*?
Mixed reviews on his playing with PB. Some would say he overplays the drums for what is necessary, some would say they like his energy. I read that he was more toned down as their tour went along.

The Long Winters were great opening for Brendan Benson, I imagine they will be good tonight as well. They have been around a while, I don't imagine they have a lot of off nights.
DAMN they play with great bands as well – BB, Pernice and Decemberists.
long winters also toured with nada surf, don't know if that show made it here.

no, here it was some crappy power pop band, Ozma, with Nada Surf
I thought both bands were very good.

Long Winters exceeded my expectations. Better live than on record. The singer was charming, and his between song banter was hysterical.

Pernice Brothers rebounded well from their lackluster Baltimore show in Dec. Probably the second best of five shows I've seen Joe do.

Mark this date…Balls just gave a completely positive show review.
I thought both bands were great as well. The Long Winters sounded different this time without Sean Nelson, the missing keyboard player. The harmonies between he and John (the lead singer) last time was the best part of the show. But they made up for that by playing a more energetic set and generally being fun on stage.

The Pernice Brothers sounded great, a couple of songs I wish they had done but can't really complain. I did not realize that Joe Pernice looks like Billy Joel in person.
