So here is the list spun from high atop the club last night. While Nuggets are great, I was tossing in some lesser know garage and soul stuff to add a little spice. Note to self, two minute songs don't leave much time to make a choice…

The Sights absolutely rocked last night, it would be great to get an evening with them sometime, 40 minutes just doesn't do them justice. For all the guff Detroit gets, over time the city has certainly turned a number of top notch and influential rock and soul acts.

Caesars were good, but after a while it begins to sound like the same song. The Golden Republic could have stayed on the bus…
The Sights were great. That boy sure can play the gee-tar.

It's hard to tell whether the Caesars fed off the crowd's lack of enthusiasm or vice-versa. Either way, they certainly seemed to be simply "going through the motions."
two days ago the caesar's set in Philly, was cancelled at the very last minute because the singer had a throat infection. actually cancelled after the golden republic played becausee the singer had gone to a doctor. i wonder if that had anything to do with it the lack of energy from the band…

their album is awful, but they put on a decent show last time, I wasnt there last night so dont know how it was
As I expected, I thoroughly enjoyed The Sights' short set. The new drummer is an excellent addition. Their last song convinced me. Love the organ. And Eddie's attitude on stage always makes me laugh. The Golden Republic were fun. Nothing new, but I like them. Caesars, on the other hand, bored me. The frontman is so bland and the guitar player is way over the top. The songs did nothing for me.
Agreed on the Sights. F-ing awesome band. I love the screaming Hammond/Leslie sound. Brought back memories of rocking out to my old ELP/The Nice albums. The lead singer is a dynamic frontman. He really makes an impression without trying too hard.

Only saw a few tunes from the Golden Republic so can't say too much about them. And Caesars was alright. I left just before their last song and I get the impression that I didn't miss much.

Good to see ggw and kurosawa last night. And props to Kosmo for the TPOH in the setlist (in the Weird But True category…Moe Berg has happily settled down and is about to be a father. Talk about the Downward Road).
TPOH were the first band I ever saw at the old 9:30.

Caesars blew. Sights ruled. Nuff said.

I meant to mention earlier, Kosmo, that the Caesars had the same dynamic last time they were around. I'd hoped they had improved. Alas, no. So I don't think it was illness.

Every time I see The Sights, I'm left eager to see them again. I noticed that they had no set list last night. Eddie was deciding on songs on the fly. Lots of visual cues between him and the drummer. As my friend said, it's so great to hear a band where every person's (and their instrument's) contribution is essential.

Realized that I left a track from the new 101ers reissue off the setlist. Based on that one track it sounds like someone has done an excellent job remastering this one. Had hoped to hear a couple more full length tracks but Real Audio is blocked where I work.

The 101ers - Elgin Avenue Breakdown Revisited
I added links to the bands with Myspace pages on my blog

Link does not work, well it gave me the bio and that is it. If you go to astralworks.com and then find the list of bands the first band is the 101ers.

The first track didn't play, but lonely mothers son is working now, "clang clang go those jail guitar doors"

nice
sorry about that… didn't check the link because it came up on a google search and thought it was the direct link to 101ers page on astralwerks
