i think they are worth another listen. i've dealt with worse openers. like waxwings for the frames last fall. *waits for onslaught of waxwings fans telling me i'm smoking crack*

quote:
Originally posted by jadetree:
I thought Fiction Plane was awful. noooooooo
generally i hate them if they are british……….they did bear a little too close a resemblance to bush, and as markie noted a little bit like rush too………….
not the best role models………….still they were actually ok…………
tegan and sara, who opened for ryan adams this fall were far worse than rosey who opened for, damn, who did she open for? i was there and i can't even remember. tegan and sara were like the musical version of the snl skit with the 2 female radio personalities. i kid you not.

quote:
Originally posted by jadetree:

I never saw Rosey.

[This message has been edited by lily1 (edited 02-20-2003).]

thanks, once again, jadetree, for your keen memory.
that's embarrassing, actually, that i couldn't recall that. the show was only a few weeks ago!

quote:
Originally posted by jadetree:
Morcheeba

i like rush too, and i didn't see that influence. i did hear some significant similarity to every other young male band that has erupted in the last couple of years. they have potential if they can break fully from the mold. it seems like they are trying but i don't know if it will completely happen.

quote:
Originally posted by jadetree:

There is nothing wrong with Rush, and I didn't hear that at all.

What a great show.. Paul is THE Geezer by excellence in my book.. it still blows my mind to see him rocking out for two hours with his age.. I'm probably less than half his age and i get spent playing one hour gigs.. I tip my hat to him and his outstanding backing band with Steve White keeping it all locked in place..
The other guitarist was Steve Cradock from Ocean Colour Scene?? I read someplace he'd be the touring guitarist but I'm not able to pick him out of a crowd.. great show, I'm happy it filled up nicely… good to see you chatboard pariahs making it to the show..
ps: seems not having snowflakes on yer scarf eliminates the "emo" factor… talk about double standards

I agree with the other attendees – The Modfather was truly excellent – much better than I was expecting.
Fiction Plane was utterly forgettable. I don't know what sound they were going for.
Hi everybody,
I'm new to this forum but I've been a Wellerite for years and it was great to see him last night. Anyway, if you want the setlist, you'll find that Steve White (the drummer) has his own website (www.whiteydrums.com) and if you click on 'tour', then the concert, he'll provide the setlist (even last night's), whiny commentary about DC, and statements about how unfunny Conan O'Brien is (I think Paul is scheduled to be on his show tonight). Anyway, enjoy.
Well he was a great drummer, but jesus he is a bit whiney.
Ok, here's the setlist, at least according to Steve White:

1) Going Places (Illumination)
2) One X One (Illumination)
3) Out of the Sinking (Stanley Road)
4) Porcelain Gods (Stanley Road)
5) Hung Up (Wild Wood)
6) Suzeâ??s Room (Heavy Soul)
7) Wild Wood (Wild Wood)
8) This is No Time (Live Wood, More Wood)
9) In the Crowd (All Mod Cons)
10) Whatâ??s Going On (Marvin Gaye tune)
11) Broken Stones (Stanley Road)
12) Long Hot Summer (Introducing TSC)
13) Picking Up Sticks (Heliocentric)
14) Bag Man (Illumination)
15) Thatâ??s Entertainment (Sound Affects)
16) You Do Something to Me (Stanley Road)
17) Can You Heal Us (Holy Man) (Wild Wood)
18) Into Tomorrow (Weller)
19) Foot of the Mountain (Wild Wood)
20) Changing Man (Stanley Road)
21) Town Called Malice (The Gift)
Encores:
22) Bullet for Everyone (Illumination)
23) Whirlpoolâ??s End (Stanley Road)
Jadetree, I agree that Steve White is a bit whiny. He was always like that; he drummed for Paul with the Style Council, and I read some interviews with him back then and he was the same way. So was Paul, but now Paul is quite diplomatic, whatever he may think about the States.

fico, you think they did four tunes for the encore? I only remember two. But then it was a late night for me….
Forgot to add: the song that was played after the lights went up was Al Wilson's 'The Snake'. Weller raved about it once on his website as a great Northern Soul tune.
