M.I.A. just dont do it.

what in the hell??? so i have been living under a rock for the last few months, but over the weekend i cracked open a package and popped in the MIA CD-single for "Galang"

ummm, what the hell is this? Kelis? do people think this is good? and why is MIA touring with LCD Soundsystem? is this what all thier songs sound like? please tell me thats just a bad song…..

i made a very similar post about a week ago, i dont get it

I walked by her tent @ Coachella.
She sounded SO bad. Shrugged & moved on…

ok, i feel better now. i took the CD out immediately and put in the new Coldplay.

did you know that if you listen to Coldplay long enough, you will end up sitting in front of the computer , eyes wide open, not blinking, tongue hanging out, drooling on the keyboard?

It's not the best song on the album, but it's also not the worst. I like Arular quite a bit. It's fun, and it's got a good beat. I didn't think much of it at first, but it's pretty catchy and after a few listens, I was wanting to hear it more and more.

That said, it would not surprise me one bit if she sucked live.

(And if you like MIA, check out Lady Sovereign. Similar stuff)

I don't get the hype at all. I missed her set at Coachella, but apparently the crowd got her to do an encore. Go figure…

I pretty much listen to everything that comes on the Internet radio, but I cannot listen to MIA. I mute my headphones when she is on. I haven't heard such a horrible bunch of music in a long time. But hey, to each his own.

I've heard nothing but good reviews of her shows. I'm eagerly anticipating her show here with LCD soundsystem.

I'm sure it's not something everyone likes, which is cool, that just means more room for me and my friends at the show.

Love Arular, and love the mixtape she did with Diplo. Good stuff.

I heard the MIA/Diplo stuff first and loved it, but bought her CD and it was not as good. Supposedly she is touring with Diplo on this tour, which would drastically improve things, I think.

MIA is playing on WOXY right now - "Bucky Done Gun." This shit's real annoying

Yeah, the CD doesn't have the energy or the diversity of sound you'll get on the diplo mix tape, but from what I understand there were a lot of problems clearing samples. Perhaps it's less of an issue on a live set.

I really like the MIA cd. I don't necessarily think it's the best stuff ever, but it's catchy and she's got a good voice I find the mix of the songs interesting.

What's funny sonic, is that I feel the way about Coldplay that you feel about MIA. Just don't understand the hype around them at all.

once a week, i try to get myself to like Coldplay, just so i can fit in, but i cant do it.

i really think they cause brain damage.

I can't get into Coldplay either. Chris Martin's voice is way too whiney.

but according to entertainment weekly they're the next U2, remember?? how fucking ridiculous.

of course coldplay are the new U2, safe anthems for the masses. the difference is that U2 didn't start out sucking, that began with the Unforgettable Fire or more precisely the Live at Red Rock show where Bono became a rock star instead of a singer in a great band. Sorry U2 fans I just don't think Joshua Tree stands up against War and they became a singles bands with a "spectacular" stage show with the release of Achtung Baby.

well said. it's impossible to compare coldplay to U2 in that, by the same time in their career as coldplay is now, U2 already had war and boy under their belt. no contest.

can we talk more about how MIA sucks and less about bands everybody knows suck, thanks

well i can't comment on the suckage of M.I.A. haven't heard anything in order to base an opinion. but sligthly on topic LCD Soundsystem doesn't suck.

LCD Soundsystem does NOT suck, you are right. a breath of fresh air in a world of music confused on whether its rock music or dance music, or heaven forbid, "mashups".
