damn

Obama clinched it. Not a big surprise at this point..but 10 5 or even 1 year ago who woulda thunk it? We gotta brother running on the ticket of one of the major parties.

If he wins nothing will make me happier than thought of all those fat cat rich white rednecks panicking at the thought of the white house painted black.
He'll probably bow to the Clinton machine and give her the VP to appease the rednecks. We shall see.
I have to recognize that I wanted to see a sweet playlist in iTunes. Though, Obama is also a good development.
Obama is about as much a "brother" as Tiger Woods is. Probably even less.

i figured 'not black enough' would go away after the primaries
Man, where I grew up, you were sneered at for even having a dark tan. I'm sure some of those good ol' boys are probably all bent up about it.

I'm glad he's a mix of black and white. Though he's mostly white, given that he was raised by his single white mom.

Yeah, and I bet he got treated as a white guy wherever he went
i think more than just "rednecks" will be scared of him "painting the white house black" in the voting booth.
i certainly hope that there are better ways for Obama to reach out to the middle class, etc than having to resort to Hilary as a VP. she is such a cow and starting to act like a spoiled child..
He should hand out free coupons to Applebees and Costco.

President McCain here come.

way to go Hope-Changers….way to go….
Anyone just see him sucking up to AIPAC?

That was quick. I wonder how many more lobbyists he'll blow before november.
Yep…I'm afraid you're right Sonic.

I'll take that bet. Name your price.

If the Do you Read? thread hadn't been purged you would have seen smackie say this was more than possible back in November of 06. I'm not going to waiver now.

More concerning to me today is that Morgan Tsvangirai was arrested.
ah presidential race season…how many internet bets will be made and never paid during this time…
sonick - so you think hillary would have a better shot against mccain?

manamitired: dunno about others, but smackie pays his bets. you can count on that.

I definitely do. Hillary is not quite so over the top. She's lived the White house for 8 years, been on the Senate for a while and knows how to get things done in Washington.

Obama just thinks he's gonna go to the White house and "change how things are done in Washington". Yeah, right and the 500 old fat white dudes who've been there since Obama was in grade school are going to roll over and let him?

doubtful.

And besides that, we ALL know that a woman stands a better chance than a black man in this country…especially when her hubby is a former Pres himself.

and all that is before we talk about the fact that Obama has no forgien policy or realistic goals on the economy or Iraq.

he's like the Gnarls Barkley of Presidential campaigns. we're all about him now but by 2010 we'll be scraping his bumper stickers off of our cars we're paying $7 a gallon to drive around in.

<end rant>
I have to admit that I'm with Sonic on this one. Hillary made mistakes on the campaign. A lot of them. And there was surely an arrogance factor with Bill. But the thing that I respect about Hillary is that she had a more defined view of what she would do if she took office, and the arrogance there was the assumption that she would be able to get it.

Obama is going to be like the dog that caught the car, assuming he can get there. He's smart, he speaks well, but he's also advocating change (which we do need). But I still don't think that he is giving us the well-defined agenda yet. I hope that changes. Hillary's evils were known…and I would have been more content with those than Obama's unknowns, of which I am afraid there are many. And the way the political climate is, there are a LOT of Republicans that cannot stand McCain, and I think Hillary would have been a less bitter pill to swallow. Even though a lot of folks hate her, I think Obama will have a tougher shot. Of course it's only June and a lot can happen in the next four months.
