*THE CULT* Roll-Call! - Tues. 9th

Has anyone seen these guys lately? I know they tour often - are they any good? I really like their early albums…
I saw them twice in the 80's. Once on the Electric tour and once on the Sonic Temple tour. Very forgettable.
I've seen them a number of times in recent years, including their most recent show up in Baltimore. I'm excited to see them again and looking forward to them being back at 9:30, especially with the new sound system.
these guys always rock
I've seen an off-attitude show or two; but definitely looking forward to tonight. Some decent songs on newest LP and the rest of the band have been with Ian/Billy for a bit now I believe.

The club may not be too packed so I hope that doesn't affect them too much.
off-attitude?
I saw them last November at Ramshead with my parents and they were so awesome. It's funny because at that show, Ian talked on stage about his love for the 9:30 club. I imagine seeing the Cult in one of their favorite venues should be a pretty nice treat.

I've been a cult fan since 9th grade (I know I'm only 23 so really it's not that long… my dad got me into their music I'll admit it) and I really love their old stuff, so I was pretty happy that they did a great mixture of old and new. By the way, the new album from last fall is pretty fun.

Anyway, I wish I could go tonight, but I'm broke thanks to college textbooks. If I could go, believe me, I would be there.

If anyone is going, could you please report back as to what the setlist was?
Tentatively planning to attend tonight's show.

I've never seen them before, but I had "Sonic Temple" (a cassette dub of it) back in the day and knew some of their work circa "Ceremony." I always found them entertaining, even if many of their songs sounded suspiciously similar.

I remember reading an interview with Ian Astbury several years ago and was pleasantly surprised to find him so articulate and intelligent. Not just a pretty boy after all!

Yeah— ya know that feeling that the band (or at least the frontman) is not in a good mood and is just punching-the-clock.
I thought the show was solid. Good set list, etc.
Can someone post the set-list?

<missing one song>
Nirvana, Rain, I Assassin, ???, Sweet Soul Sister, Edie, Illuminated, Horse Nation, Spiritwalker, Savages, The Phoenix, Dirty Little Rockstar, Wild Flower, Love Removal Machine.
e: Fire Woman, She Sells Sanctuary
Good show. Nice set. Ian was a little surly and maybe wasn't really giving it his all, but still it was a good show.
Just for the record, I'm jealous that you guys got to hear Rain. I was hoping that they would've done that one when I saw them, and unfortunately, they didn't. Oh and same thing about Horse Nation and Spirit Walker.

Did anyone else think that this show was REALLY FUCKING LOUD?
And did anyone else wonder how many tambourines the Cult has to take on tour with them to compensate for Ian Astbury continually throwing them into the crowd?

I was imagining a big crate marked "TAMBOURINES"…
That's funny. Seriously - This show was PAINFULLY loud and I ain't no pussy.
