Guesses for VFest Line-up

the problem with Daft Punk doing a gig 3 nights in a row is their rather large stage setup. those pyramid things and all of the screens. seems much easier for a band with just some amps, guitars and drums…but maybe not.

if daft punk and JAMC play Vfest…i'm cancelling my wedding! (not really)
Ralph Macchio doing spoken word hiphop
Breaking Benjamin. Wait, no… Breaking Bonaduce.
Can someone please explain to me why Daft Punk is so great? I can't stand to listen to it. I tried.
Charo and Cher
If Wilco is indeed playing Merriweather on June 21 (as was stated in the Hey Seth thread), then I doubt they'll be back again in early August, so we can probably cross them off of the list.
It looks like they need a day off between each of the dates in order to transport their gear. If they end up playing V-Fest, I'll buy you a drink :)

It's obviously a squeeze, but don't underestimate the lure of cold, hard currency baby. For something as high profile as VFest, I could see 'em pulling a back-to-back date thing . . .
Did you listen to the Homework album?

well, of course i can only speak for myself, but Daft Punk, has carved its own sound, almost as well as the greatest techno/electronic acts (Kraftwerk, Chemical Brothers).

theres NO mistaking a DP song. plus, they're totally crazy weird french dudes.

My love came from the album Homework..back when i was at a club 3 nights a week watching Daft Punk just totally unleash the dancefloor with songs like "Rollin & Scratchin'" and "Da Funk". Homework is one of the greatest electronic albums to come out in probably the 3 years that electronic music may have been putting out the best music in the world.

Add to the fact that they NEVER tour anymore, and when they did tour back in the day, they only played large raves or underground events.

so the rareness of a live show makes them more desireable.

if you dont like to get on the dancefloor and never did…then i am not sure what is so special about them…but if you like to groove, look no further…. :)

i'm gonna go put on Homework right now!

Rollin & scratchin = best breakdancing song ever!
maybe Guns N' Roses?

speaking of GNR, who the hell is filling in for Slash since he plays with Velvet Revolver?
Rocco Delucca and the Burdens
You're kidding, right?

To enjoy it, I'm pretty sure you have to drop some MDMA first.
I think the most likely bands playing the festival will be ones with new albums out, giving them something to promote, along with not coming to DC in the months leading up to the show. Velvet Revolver breaks this, as they're playing 930 soon, but all the other announced acts fit into this category. That being said, likely acts:

White Stripes (maybe too big)
Bjork (maybe too big)
Amy Winehouse
Neko Case
Underworld
Chemical Brothers

i'm listening to "homework" right now for the first time this millennium, i think (my first mdma-free millennium). it sounds really good but i still don't understand what makes their live sets so awe-inspiring and legendary. is it all about the visuals? i mean, who really gives a fuck about visuals? that's when the flaming lips started to suck ass, when they started concentrating a lot more on the visuals than the songs.

anyway, to try to stay on topic a bit i would say that kings of leon are a solid bet to play.
Jimmy Eat World is coming out with a new CD this year arent they?
Arctic Monkeys, even though they're playing the club in a few weeks
Ash, Maximo Park, The Rakes, Hard-Fi (I believe) all have new stuff coming out. Then again, I'm hoping they all play Lolla. Besides Maximo is touring in July and the guys in Ash now live in NYC thusly making it easier to see them around.
Lolla got Silverchair, can we get Candlebox please?
