Why I hate FM Radio!

not that i like AM Radio. but this is a thread about FM Radio.

the biggest reason for hatred, and this is really just a hatred for commercial music, but since FM radio is satan's messenger of bad music, i hate it too.

the songs….are so catchy and easy to sing along to that they get embedded in your brain, and it makes you feel like someone else has taken over your mind, that you no longer have control. and its a shame that, though i am able to break this spell on my own, i feel that others may fall captive to these songs for life!

the latest is that goddamn Gavin Degraw song "I Don't Want to be" well, "i dont want to be singing this song all cause its driving me crazy!" and all i did was change CDs in my car this morning!!!!!

DAMN YOU FM RADIO with your musical brainwashing!! damn you to hell!!!!
I've had to use my wife's car for work lately, and since it doesn't have a CD player that easily accessible (who thought a 6 CD changer in the trunk was a good idea???), I've been stuck with the radio. So far, everything is garbage except 94.7 The Globe. Man, every morning I've been greeted with a great selection of songs. Granted, they're not all winners, but I'd rather hear a shitty song I rarely hear on the radio than a shitty song I have four times a day.
Nothing is more refreshing than being in Seattle and turned on the old FM and hearing KEXP. Now THAT is cool.

Or turning it on via my computer…
Hey there's always (shameless plug) NPR on your radio dial. Tune it to WAMU, 88.5 FM.

Sorry, forgot, didn't mean to be DC-centric.
You might try WBJC, 91.5 FM on your radio dial.

I believe there is a more alternative rock type stationed in the 94.3 range, if I remember right. So Mark Persky got fired for an over reaction statement too huh?

I hate to be a prick….no,I really don't hate it…I kinda of enjoy it,to be honest….but that's for another time…YOU ARE MISSING SOMETHING IN BALTIMORE!!….I've spent quite a bit of time up there in the past month or so at different times of the day and tuned in to this station and WISHED we had anything like it in the D.C. area with the wide coverage it has…it comes in REALLY well in your neighborhood,to be honest..and all over other areas,too…..DAMN…..

unfortunately, my GF was using my car and had it on mix 106.something boo hiss.

but yeah, WTMD is the best radio station in town.

Both WASH and Mix107 are using Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" in their TV commercials. Everybody loses.

I can't believe Mitchell Froom was involved in that song's production.

I can't believe how good the playlists are compared to the trash that airs down here…that's why I have satellite radio and don't listen to anything else when I get in my ride for the 40 minute commute….I was checking out their "drivetime" playlists and just wish I could hear X,Lou Reed,Dylan,LCD Soundsystem,Black Rebel, etc. when I was in the car on FM….you're lucky, dammit!

Don't forget RNR 103.1FM

Very, very similar and, in my opinion, a little better. It's changed and not like it was when it was nothing but constant repeats of Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee, The Greatful Dead and extremely worn out middle aged White man bar Blues. Personally, neither are fully to my taste but at least I will listen to both of them now; something I haven't done for years.

But they both need to dump Brandi Carlile. She's my new personal musical irritant. I can't listen to her to save my life! The radio will go off when she's on if I can't find something else to go to. Sounds like a cat with laryngitis screeching out her painful love calls. EWCK!!!

Not to your taste??!….Damn, woman, are you particular!…..try driving around the metro D.C. area and listening to what's available here!…you'd be thanking your lucky stars you have decent radio….I just can't get WRNR AT ALL over here in VA….I remember when I first moved back to this area and was living in Calvert County and used to listen late night after I got home from work at midnight…I used to call in at around 2 A.M. or so and get my requests played every night…but, they just played NOTHING but hippie and jam band rock almost all the time…I would lose interest during the day…haven't got to check them in a long time…
