I'm planning on it. Sick baby at home though, so all bets are off.

How are you people able to go to shows that start at 11 and get to work the next morning, seemingly night after night? Y'all just amaze me.

try having a day job, booking, AND managing every show you book…without having a severe meth habit.
black mountain *should* sell out, but attendance is so shitty in DC, especially on mondays, that i'd actually be surprised if we hit 150 tonight.

Mondays are awful…the one night of the week in which I sometimes bag a show I already have a ticket for just because it's so hard to get out…
In answer to Xavier, living 5 minutes from the DC clubs makes a big difference. I can usually be in bed by 12:30 or so…only about a half hour later than usual…

is attendance really that poor in DC? I am relocating in a month and am anxious to see how lesser known band shows will be attended, I always assumed attendance was mostly based on the size of the city

where are you going, pollard?
attendance is definitely not based on the size of the city. i've seen shows in nyc where there were less than 30 people on a weekend. attendance is based on a combination of numerous things, among them:
local draw/lack of local draw
current "hipness" of band
location of venue
comfortability of venue
how well or poorly promoted the show is
price
day of the week
competition
based on the poor attendance we've had at the warehouse and DC9 for many shows, i truly feel that attendance has declined, specifically among shows aimed at an older demographic. people simply don't come out to shows like they used to. pop-punk, emo, and indie-rock shows do well because that demographic tends to have more disposable income/time than those that are into – this will sound elitist – more challenging or underground music, like experimental, noise, jazz, psychedelia, stoner rock/doom metal, etc.
i could be wrong, but after booking, working, and attending nearly 300 shows a year for the last few years, this is what i've noticed.

Oy, what a great music town. There are tons of venues, and great bands nearly always go through Portland. Wow, bitchin'. I'm glad you're moving post-GBV, because what would a GBV show be without p011@rd?
