DRAGONFORCE ROLL CALL

That's what I'm assuming as well, I hope you're right.
What a brutal show.
dragonforce will be forgotten about next year just like the darkness.

actually they sound nothing like that.
that was the worst comparison ive ever heard of.

clean out your ears, boy.

Nothing like that? Nothing at all? Are you sure? High, falsetto-ish vocals? Check. Lightning-fast guitar scales that have nothing to do with the melody of the song? Check. Lyrics like "Full the moon and midnight sky, Through the dark they ride
Warriors of forever will sacrifice the night"? Check. I only heard 4-5 songs by them, but they all featured these characteristics.

Please post an alternate description if you wish.
my fault. I thought you were describing "The Sword". Yeah Dragonforce is pretty cartoonish. so is Buckethead. and Manowar.
the sword > dragonforce
Ahh, sorry for the mix-up. I was describing Dragonforce. I'm a big fan of The Sword and I wish I could make it to the show this week. Hoping for a DC show soon.
Rumor has it they're headlining in Bmore w Clutch and Wooly Mammoth on NYE at Boar's head (?) or some such. Nothing's confirmed yet.

It's up on the Ramshead site, and WM has confirmed it. Should be an amazing show, and a real education for anyone who thinks dragonforce is metal.

anyone here willing to 'fess up to seeing buckethead last night?

i'll start: i did, and it was an interesting show. from a technical point of view, i've never seen anything like that dude (and yes, i've seen/heard a number of 'guitar gods'). strong element of performance art (or acid burn-out, you chose) to the show, which ran about two and half hours. "bass player" played this home-made single-string contraption made out of pipes - weird, and he was good at it. drummer was a retarded man-child. over-all, very surreal… yes, the bucket is dorky/stupid/whatever - it was good music, which was what i came for.
where did you see him?

I saw him at Wetlands about 12 years ago w Bernie Worrell and a few other PFunk ex-pats. Buckethead was clearly the center of attention and deservedly so. pretty phenomenal guitarist.
I go to Birchmere for the food.

The Sword is just as much of a joke as Dragonforce, a bunch of alternative music douchebags who discovered Black Sabbath a few years back and think we should give a fuck, William Elliott Whitmore is the only act worth seeing on that bill.
So what's the story with all the ridiculous band names? Do they give themselves these stupid metal names on purpose, or are they for real?
