So, any good stabs as to when my homies should get to Merriweather tonight to see the White Stripes take the stage? Merriweather's website estimates a show to start 90 minutes after 5:30, when gates open. There's an opening act, so, what do you elitist pricks think? 8:00 for the White Stripes? 9:00?
Unofficial: White Stripes take the stage
The White Stripes are so 2002.
Hipsters will be at Sufjan.
The true indie vanguard will be at Wolf Eyes.

Isn't Rolling Stone pushing Wolf Eyes?
I'll be at Wolf Eyes after I see Sufjan. What does that make me?

What if stay in Richmond and see Criteria, Minus The Bear, and These Arms Are Snakes?

Kurosawa directed me to another lupine outfit - Wolfmother. Good stuff from what I've listened to. 70s-ish power trio.
I once dated a woman who claimed a special kinship with wolves. She wasn't a keeper.
That Criteria record isn't bad.

My faith in the White Stripes has been fully restored… After the lackluster show at GWU and Elephant being real hit or miss and not so good things said about the yet unheard new one, all it took was a blistering 90 minute set to win me back. Dunno what was different, possibly Jack wasn't trying as hard this time around and Meg is rockin' hard then ever. It's great watching Jack seeming decided the setlist on the fly. While the duo setup still works for most of the songs, it would be nice to have a couple extra players on the songs where Jack switches to keyboards to fill out the sound. Plus it would be great to hear the material in a new light with a extra guitar player, etc live. Especially, the songs from "White Blood Cells" which got the warmest crowd response.
Fashion report, Meg look extra hot in her Pink Leather suit and Jack was wearing a beige loincloth…
The Shins were good but just seemed a bit out of place, I think the pacing was little off to a broken guitar string early in the set.
The Merriweather pit is the second best place in DC to watch a rock show from…

agreed about the stripes set….it was rocking, hell, they managed to bring live to a tegan and sara song
shins were fun…..
m.ward was interesting….two old people in front of me were debating on its merits, one said it was the worst crap he ever heard, the other was calling it the second coming of the Paul Butterfield Blues band…..eh, I thought it was good, but not earthshaking or anything
all in all though, great show, and just what I need this week, lol
