Effectively gather information, let agencies work together, and not politicize the process. Perfect example is not getting rid of military personnel capable of doing Arabic translation because they happen to be gay.

by implementing #2 now it allows certain parties to assert the US is getting soft on terrorism and become a bunch of "cut and runners". thus proving my point that the dealing with terrorism needs to be depoliticized first, followed by better covert information gathering, sharing and intelligence. This would allow the US to deal with terrorism over the long term and not try to fix it over night.

Americans have been sold down the river that government is suddenly capable of preventing terrorists attacks from happening here and thus willing to give up whatever freedom is necessary to do so. Where as terrorism has been a long time issue for the British who still can't completely get a handle on, and whose citizen still go on about their lives.

Where as terrorism has been a long time issue for the British who still can't completely get a handle on, and whose citizen still go on about their lives.

The British actually have more onerous intrusions and fewer rights. Wiretaps are approved by the Home Secretary - no judge needed. Accused persons can be held for longer without being charged, and with less evidence. And lets not overlook the ubiquitous CCTV.

I think the British (and Europeans in general) just tend to be more pragmatic and have more faith in their government than we Americans. So if the government says "we can tap anyone we want to," the average Brit just says "right-o."

I wouldn't do anyhting. It's just a fad for Muslim teenagers and will pass like flannel did in the 90s.

I think we should start hiring mercenaries from the former Soviet and Yugoslav states to fight in Iraq. This would take some pressure off our troops, and boost the economies of those countries.

Betty, that's a pretty damn good point. Unfortunately, our fearless leader forgot to do that. So we are stuck with the question, like it or not, what to do now? We can't undo what we've done.
