Sleater-Kinney

These ladies rock out a great show, don't miss them. If you dig their recordings you will love them live. I'm going to the Recher show tonight, looks like they play 930 tomorrow.
Do you think these womyn ever actually refer to themselves as "ladies"?
yes

Why does that matter? I'm the one talking (typing) here. And I'm sure they prefer it over "chix".
I too, shall be in attendance at the Recher tonight - also looking forward to seeing The Thermals
How are you sure of this?

Please report back on The Thermals, main reason I was going tomorrow night, might reconsider going if reviews are bad.
I saw them at CMJ. They were ok for a song or two, but got rather monotonous.

Though the CHICK was fun to watch, as her titties tend to do a lot of bouncing.

I'm all-knowing…
I was hoping to go to Recher tonight, but can't make it. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's show.

In the recent media frenzy surrounding the twenty-fifth anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, ABC News ran a puff piece on the state of rock â??nâ?? roll since the advent of the King. In chronicling the fallout, they showed clips of exactly four other artists: the unavoidable Beatles, the ludicrously outclassed Kiss, the inexorable Rolling Stones and, unnamed but represented by a reasonable portion of their video for â??Youâ??re No Rock â??n Roll Fun,â? Sleater-Kinney. While it would be preposterous to follow the implicit argument here and suggest that nothing else of importance has come about since the late 1970s, the point is well taken. If youâ??re looking for a bead on what rock â??nâ?? roll as it exists today is capable of, your search should begin, and may well end, with Sleater-Kinney.

Thatâ??s an increasingly common belief. Entertainment Weekly asked if they were Americaâ??s greatest rock â??nâ?? roll band, Time answered in the affirmative and Robert Christgau of The Village Voice suggested in his review of 2000â??s peerless All Hands on the Bad One that Sleater-Kinney demonstrated the consistency and quality of the Rolling Stones during their late-â??60s peak.
Who is the hottest member of Sleater-Kinney?
I think the drummer is the least hot. The other two are about equal.

I thought they were good. Short, fast songs with a lot of energy. Glad I showed up to check them out.

they were 'ok' - little bit of a tendancy for the songs to sound the same after a while

sleater kinney were great - lots of energy - a few HEAVY new songs - fairly muddy vocals esp at the start - crowd was WAAAY into it - I felt old…..
oh, and the SK drummer is fucking amazing

thanks for the info, just wanted to make sure they were not awful live, I really like the album, but I may not be able to make it to the show anyway

I made the same comment last night.

And I dug the cover of Bikini Kill's "Rebel Girl" during the encore.

A-MAZ-ING.

Actually, I think she's what makes them so great as a live act. I've always been sort of surprised at how much I love seeing them; I think Janet's the answer. Also of note, "Dig Me Out" is my fave album, the first she played on…

I'm way excited for tonight; will catch about half the Thermals set just cuz I can't get there any earlier than 7:00.

Any idea how well the show has sold??
