He Must Be Stopped At All Costs!

No, not Bush. I'm talking about George Lucas.
Apparently, the original trilogy is coming out on DVD next Tuesday, and features even MORE changes, some of which are updates to things he updated with the Special Editions in 1997.
If anyone cares to take a look (flawd, maybe?) at some of the changes, you can check them out
here. Lucas sucks.

most of these changes seem fine to me - they're all small - 99.9% of people will never notice

Ahh, they're fine. Looking forward to the Trilogy on DVD though. Long overdue.

Adding Hayden Christensen is soooo weak. God! Did they make a huge mistake casting that piece of wood!

I also cannot wait for this trilogy to come out on DVD. The changes are real minor.

On a purists note, I tend to agree with you, simply because the end shot was supposed to be representative of the fact that Luke was right all along - that there was good in his father - and the end shot now with the younger version of Anakin is not indicative of a conversion, instead opting for a return to an earlier version of the good Anakin. Totally weak.

Despite my posting, I do agree that almost everything is minor, and some really are for the best, like switching the Emperor, for example. But the fact that he's making edits to things he already edited irritates me.
Plus, I'm a mega-Star Wars geek. And the fact that the DVD is ONLY this cut kills me, since it means I have to keep my Special Edition VHS tapes AND the original, unedited trilogy VHS set.
I should just start saving up now for the complete 6+ set he'll release in two years. Man, Lucas has made SOOOOO much money off of me.

My parents still have me and my brothers action figures and other Star Wars stuff like the death star, landspeeders, X wings, etc….in boxes at home. Ahhhhh, the good ol' days, when everyone on this board were huge pop 80's music fans whether they admit it or not.

ahh, i was pretty sure i wasn't the only one that owns both sets on vhs. i had always heard that lucas wasn't gonna release them on dvd, because, so the theory goes, he didn't want people to see it in a digital format.
this talk about stopping lucas reminds me of the south park episode where they take on steven spielberg and george lucas to try to get them to stop re-making, editing and adding things digitally to their old movies.

With all these other changes, why didn't he change the black spot that hovers on the emporer's hood all through the final vader/luke fight??

i still have my star wars figures. none of the ones i really want but whatever. i took them out of their cool yet funny poses when i procured a street sign with my last name on it. my favorite being luke watching anakin and padme(ep. 1) doing it with his gun in hand and mace windu holding up an "erase heppititis B" eraser( hahah its funny because hes black and a jedi!)

This sort of slipped under the Radar with the DVDs coming out, but has naybody played "Star Wars: Battlefront" yet?
It comes out tomorrow but my friends with advance copies say that the cooperation modes are amazing and will rival Halo (not Halo 2, though) for the game most often played with multiple people, only in cooperative mode rather than multiplayer team battles.
The campaigns (like most SW games, save for Knights and Rogue Leader) are crap though, or so I have heard.
The prosepct of just about any character, with any vehicles on any planet seem promising though. The commercial with the first person Scout Trooper shooting the Ewok cracks me up every time I see it.
