Beastie Boys

i can't stand this
i know they planned this
beastie boys are old
politics is sabotage
When was the last time anyone actually gave a toss about their opnions?

199?
Beastie Boys may not do as much as they once did, but they are still completely relevant. They've done more in the way of raising money and awareness for causes than just about any band out there. They could hit the road and do an area tour and it would sell out almost instantly.

I can't speak for your offhanded racist comment, but there are still plenty of sideways hats out there.
I refuse to go see a band who only feels my town is important enough to visit if we happen to be a swing state. It's kind of insulting, in a way.

$100 says you wouldn't say that if they were stumping for the republicans. the true insult here is that they're on obama's side.

The fact they're on the wrong side is a completely different issue. You're right, in that, I don't want my money going to support Get Out The Idiot vote efforts, but my stand against this is purely on the merits of the "the Beastie Boys haven't stepped foot in Richmond in 25 years and now that they want something, they're willing to grace us with their presence" issue.

If you find the word 'whigger' offensive you're WAY too uptight

I guess I'm just an old fuddy duddy, all uptight and sensitive.

Try using that term in front of a group of African American people you don't know and see how it turns out for you. Then come back here and tell me I'm uptight.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it's not an offensive or racist term…

This according to Wikipedia: The term most likely stems from a portmanteau of the word white and the derogatory term nigger. The word is considered offensive by some because of its similarity to nigger in addition to reflecting stereotypical notions about urban blacks.

I'm a white guy who's never really earned that label so I wouldn't really be the judge. Maybe there's someone more qualified than me to answer this question.

your vitriol backs my point… if they were coming to richmond to promote the embarrassing joke that is the republican ticket, you would have been all for it. if they could fill a venue full of right-wingnuts and get local excited about the old man and the unqualified princess, you would not be complaining.

GOP & indignation really do go well together, don't they?
yet you get stoked for a bunch of has beens playing for an unqualified community organizer and another old man. go figure…
