This is all because of the shitty venue that is DAR. I talked to a bunch of people who didn't go last night soley because of how much they hate that place. It sucks the fun out of any concert there. The sound blows, the bar lines blow, the ushers blow, the fact that there are no bars or metro stops right there blows.I agree somewhat; the venue itself is great (nice location sans proximity to Metro, historic, large, little security getting in) but their policies are completely backwards. How can you have ten bartenders for a 4,000 person venue? Why wouldn't they sell me a Pepsi after 9:30pm even though they were selling booze downstairs? Is there some kind of ordinance which says they have to stop selling alcohol an hour before the end of the show?

When I got back in to the show (after we hastily drank them outside because of the awesome rule of no drinks inside) I decided to check my change…. $3. Should have been $19.50
Why didn't I notice before? I don't know. Sometimes I'm out in space.
I go back out and track down the bartendress, plead my case and she gave me my full change!

bars: agreed, sucks, but i've never had a big problem getting tipsy if i was in a drinking mood.
seats: mixed blessing. having a more or less defined amount of space reserved around you is a nice change-up from GA sardine-land. some shows are better b/c of seats, others definitely suffer.
soul-sucking atmosphere: maybe you need to consider going to different shows :p
