I can't speak for anyone else, but when I go to Starbucks, it's to buy coffee, not to be "trendy" or "hip" or some shit. I happen to love Starbucks coffee, that's all. Good coffee tastes like good coffee to me, regardless of where I get it from. I love trying little independent coffee shops wherever I go, so it's not like I'm "loyal" to Starbucks or anything. Living out by Seattle for a few years did develop a certain preference for the brand, though. :) Lord, do I ever miss the Pike's Place Market Starbucks…
I visited a Dunkin' Donuts recently for the first time in years. Perhaps it was just a really shitty one or something, but I was not at all impressed with the coffee I got there. And Starbucks' black bottom cupcakes are ten times better than the best donut Dunkin' has ever made.

When Dunkin' Donuts became successful and popularized the "abbreviated" version, I suppose? I only used "donut" in my last sentence because I was specifically referring to Dunkin', if that's what you're talking about.

America runs on Dunkin. I am an American. Therefore, I run on Dunkin.
Dunkin Donuts is good for regular Coffee. Starbucks is good for the fancy stuff. I generally would prefer to spent $175 over $3.75 any day. Dunkin it is.

Give me a good bun anyday over a donut. Donuts have never done it for me. It's like choosing hamburger over steak or some orange 'flavored' drink over a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Sure, I eat them on occassion but usually when they are there via someone else; otherwise, I tend to go the bun, muffin or bagel route.
So it's not just my taste buds that are going off on me. I thought Starbucks coffee just wasn't what it use to be. Not that I go there all that much but everything there seems to have lost so much vibrancy and richness in both taste and smell. It's just another coffee bar as far as I'm concerned. Donna's in Baltimore and Barnes & Noble are even better than Starbucks as far as I'm concerned. Not being much of a donut eater, I've never tried the coffee at Dunkin' Donuts. Besides, I've always thought that Dunkin' Donuts donuts just tasted so bad anyway. Have heard that Dunkin's coffee is good but I don't fully trust the coffee opinion of the person who told me. Generally, I just grind my own beans and am happy with that.
On occasion, I would enjoy a nice, tall, iced café latte with a double shot of expresso, maybe flavored with vanilla. I use to love treating myself to one of those when I was in Ocean City during one of my walks to the 45th St. Village. There was a coffee bar there; nothing fancy; which seemed to change ownership each year but their iced coffee lattes were consistantly good. Unfortunately, the shopping village has been torn down to make room for more over-priced condos.

We used to get those for a fund raiser for soccer. I would end up buying a dozen or two myself. Chocolate covered with glaze, amazing.

i guess i didnt read the opening post correctly, did it say "Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, or tell us how you're too cool for either"?
I don't know what your problem is but for me it has absolutely nothing whatsoever about being 'cool'. In fact, I don't even know how any of this is
supposed to make one cool. Hey, maybe you just
think that I am. Don't know and don't care. Get over it!
And since when have you been one to be such a stickler for staying on topic? Another… out to you.
