It's now
94.7 The Globe It's still rock-based, but not classic rock. Their website calls it "World Class Rock". I heard a few minutes of it in the car. One of their bumpers was something like "Van Morrison and Nirvana on the same station? Why not?". Then they started playing INXS.
I hate radio.

I hope so. The website emphasizes that it's a local station with real DJs who have a say in what they play, so it's possible.
If that's really the case, maybe it won't be too bad.

I didn't know the format change, however mild was coming. At least it will not be a shock like turning when I turned on WETA last month.

what the hell?
okay, i liked them. i hope it's still good.
but they have a lot of stations like that in LA that play rock…classic stuff and a little more contemporary.
i have been loooooooving big 100.3, but they have such a tiny library…i think i hear the same ELO song every time i am in the car…

I'll settle for more Bowie, Who and Young. Just please play less Skynard, GNR, Eagles, Aerosmith and Black Crowes.

Come on, give Skynrd a chance. When you get beyond the overplayed Freebird, they've got some pretty damn good songs.

From dcrtv:
WARW Goes "Global" & "Green" AAA - 2/2 - DCRTV told you on 1/31 that some changes were coming to CBS's classic rock WARW (94.7 FM). Well, at noon Friday, after a few moments of silence, something new started. "The New 94.7 - The Globe." According to an on-air announcement from CBS Radio's DC suit Michael Hughes, the station is "going green." Using renewable sources of power for its transmitter and the station's hybrid vehicles. "World Class Rock." Classic and alternative artists from the Rolling Stones, U2, the Beatles, Neil Young, and Van Morrison, to the Clash, Green Day, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Elvis Costello, Beck, Nirvana, and the Violent Femmes. Somewhat like the old alternative rock WHFS was in the mid-1980s, according to Hughes's noon statement, which was followed by an audio montage including Al Gore, an opponent of global warming. Trade pub Radio And Records classifies the format as "triple A" - adult album alternative. Classic WHFS veterans Weasel and Cerphe remain onboard. So do Mark Stevens and midday gal Schelby, the wife of recently canned Program Director Max Dugan. It does appear, however, that the morning team of Stevens and Medley has been pitched into the Recycle Bin. Now, can CBS/DC get the WHFS calls back from CBS/Baltimore?

Good to see they got rid of STephens and Medley.
I think it's funny how they make changes like this with seemingly no announcments in advance.
