Iâ??m sure all the board members are going to this one.
Weird Al roll call
I am.
I am.
$40? Why, that's the same cost as 20 happy hour beers. Think of it this way… Weird Al or 20 beers?
It would take me 2 or 3 months to down 20 beers. It would take me 2 or 3 lifetimes to get over a Weird Al concert.
Why not just save your $40 and buy tickets for you and 7 of your friends to see "alt-country legends" (as the Express called them today) Old 97's on Saturday. Think about it. $40 for Weird Al. $5 for Old 97's.
$40 for Weird Al? C'mon. That's 10% of a Madonna ticket, and still a ripoff.

More like we can't afford to run the AC. :)

I was kinda hoping the club would send out an email with one of the rare 2 for 1 offers. $40 *is* pricey but Weird Al doesn't tour too often so what the heck.
he was great at king's dominion last year. a perfect setting for him. however, now i only have to drive 20 minutes, not 2.5 hours to the show. word. is there an opener?
Like the Beastie Boys, weird Al's contribution to the music world has been nothing short of phenomenal. His second album was definately ground breaking and influenced many bands that came after it's release.
:p
:p
I would have to disagree. I don't think Weird Al is all about making important or influential music at all. I think his show is just about having fun. And lord knows my life is so boring and unimaginative and lacking in fun that I just may pay $40 to go see an ugly, stringy haired dude parody songs that sucked in the first place. Now That's Entertainment! :p

My point was simply that Weird Al, like the Beastie Boys, is simply a novelty/party act, and not this musical genius that some board members had stated regarding the BB..
The difference, of course, being that Weird Al is an acknowledged parody act, while the Beastie Boys are only such in the minds of some ignorant middle-aged ex-pat curmudgeons.
He did say "novelty/party", not "parody".
Even when my tastes veered more toward hip hop and alt-rock than they currently do, I always saw the Beastie Boys as more of a novelty/party act, albeit a good one. Same for Weird Al, though not as good.
Of course, you are right. They are not a parody act like Weird Al.
So I guess I agree with ggw and mankie both. When's the last time that happened?
