I rather like prog, but so far have been wary of math rock. Are there any slam-dunk math rock selections, albums that you just can't go wrong in trying?

Don Caballero's pretty good. Check out Singles Breaking Up Vol. 1.

Secret Machines - Now Here Is Nowhere
June of '44 - Tropics and Meridians
Rodan - Rusty
Shellac - At Action Park
Fugazi - Anything
Polvo - Celebrate the New Dark Age (EP)
Chavez - Ride The Fader
Pitchblende - Au Jus

These really aren't all math rock but you'll probably like them.

Yeah, I don't think I'd call Secret Machines anything near math rock. A good record for sure, but math rock it is not.
