OK pal, let me spell it out for ya. I'm super duper hip. I'm so hip I got a hip replacement because I was to hippy. That hipster handbook, well it's all about me and my hipness. I don't just follow, I follow the lastest and most vapid of youth trends that you'll totaly recognize me at you kid's softball game with my vespa that I welded to a Harly and coverd in sunglasses as totem to my everexpanding power of hipness. So, my point is that uh.. I realy have nothing to say. Hi.

So are you implying that being HIP is a good thing to be?

Come on Rhett, didn't you go to high school?
I went to a redneck high school. Anybody who even hinted at being "hip" was automatically a fag.

No Robert Randolph and the Family Band?
No Steve Earle?
No Old 97's?
This list blows.
I'd rather see some dude playing a washboard with Hippie Sticks than Phish. Oh wait, same thing, my bad.

I was not hip, a redneck or a fag in high school. I was a "brain" (hey when you go to a redneck school there's not that much competition), a wannabe athlete, and a shy, social nobody.
Not much has changed, except I'm now somewhere where there are actually a lot of "brains", leaving me to be a non-brain. And I'm happy about being a social nobody instead of being upset by the fact.
And you? How was the Grand Canyon anyway?

Originally posted by Rhett Miller:Exceeded my expectations. Great weather – low 80's and zero humidity on the South Rim. Much hotter at the bottom of course. Took a nice 20 mile day hike from the rim to the river and back – park regulations be damned. We started down the South Kaibab at 6:30 am and made it to the river about 9:15, where it was already 100 degrees. Walked along the river for awhile and then we ascended the Bright Angel at about 10-10:30, making it back to the top a little after 3:00.

I'd definitely go again, perhaps in the fall.
And I've got the photo to prove it!
