The National in VT March 7 (?)

Starting a new thread because this is an alert of sorts…

The National have themselves listed as playing in Vermont on March 7, although the Black Cat still has them opening for Alaska! on the same date.
???

Sun. 07 Mar 2004
CLUB METRONOME
188 Main Street
Burlington, VT

It makes sense they'll be in VT based on the way their tour moves from the Thursday 9:30 Club show with the Walkmen.

Just an alert that if you want to see them, Thursday may be the only chance
After touring with the Walkmen they will be opening for the Pernice Brothers again and 16 Horespower, unfortunately, not in DC.
So Thursday is their only local show? Glad I saw that, I may have waffled….
Bugger.

I wanted to see them twice.
i don't know if i should point this out or not… but there's National vid posted on the Brassland website. It's shot in a hotel room with various band members sitting in the bathtub… Are they considered HOTT by any chance?

Was considering come down, but Kosmette needs a little cocooning today after a crappy week…
Kosmo did you notice the national had a song on the clash tribute that came free with uncut? CLAMPDOWN!

Thanks for the vid link…I am going there now

"Hey Dr. Mark,
Glad to hear you are coming out on Thur. … hoping you have bought tix in
advance … as it may (or may already have?) sold-out (due to the immense
popularity of the Walkmen + Weird War most likely, if so).

Sorry about the mis-info on the Black Cat … we were booked there earlier,
but things got shifted around w/ our bookings. We won't be there that night
unfortunately.

See you thursday night. Keep it real.
/the national"
Is this seriously a show which might sell out?!? I'm planning to get there about 8.

I noticed that they gave The Microphones live album a 6.1 today, I gave it a 6.2 a week or two ago on Big Yawn, see, I don't do everything the same as pitchfork, oh and their review also featured better writing
I didnt think it would sell out, but I dont really like the walkmen. I bought my tickets a couple of weeks ago as I really didnt want to miss the show.

What's this Robot stuff you seem to be listening to a lot?
Are the Walkmen better than, or at least different from, Jonathan Fire Eater? I remember seeing them years ago, and thinking they were horrible. And now hear they are receiving major hype.

it only looks like a lot because the album came with 3 discs, but each is only 20 minutes long

not crazy about the new stuff so far, one disc is entirely political and made to sound like early twentieth century radio programming, although there is some good stuff on the other discs

review of first album

Gosh Rutherford, that's so contrary.
Well I'm not always contrary. I did see this chick yesterday at Borders and thought she was good…

Both are far better than Wilco so what are you worried about?
There goes Mankie again, picking on the one band that I like that he's actually heard of…
