Board's Best of 2004 (so far)

anybody want to start with their best albums from the first half of 2004 (a down year)?
I may need to edit this later, but…

1. BR549
2. Jolie Holland
3. Bobby Bare Jr.
4. Grant Lee Phillips
5. Jesse Sykes
6. Norah Jones

but surely I am forgetting some

3 out of my top 6 are women. Can any non-lesbians out there top that?

Most overrated: Loretta Lynn's album

this list is sure to change with impending releases by Old 97's and Drive By Truckers.
sure to change as well, and not in order

Von Bondies - Pawn Shoppe Heart
Secret Machines - Now Here Is Nowhere
Shearwater - Winged Life
Mountain Goats - We Shall All Be Healed
Magnetic Fields - I
Of Montreal - Satanic Panic In The Attic
Beta Band - Heros To Zeros
Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse
TV On The Radio - Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes
Burning Brides - Leave No Ashes
Air – Talkie Walkie
Iron and Wine – Our Endless Numbered Days

Honorable Mentions:
Morrissey – You Are the Quarry
Franz Ferdinand – FF

Somewhat disappointing: PJ Harvey (only because all her other stuff is so great)
The Walkmen – Bows and Arrows

I still want to pick up Sonic Youth, the Orbital, and the new Charlatans (if it ever makes it across the pond).
Bowie - Reality
Morrissey - You are the quarry

Honorable mention

Jem - Finally awoken

Everything else is just shite. ;)

Just so we're clear, those are the only three CDs you bought this year, right?
burning brides is awful! i did like the VB and SM albums though
The only three he has bought this year that were released in 2004 (or post-1990 for that matter)

But in all fairness, I myself have probably bought no more than 10 or so 2004 releases.

Actually, I have an amendment.

Bowie - Reality
Morrissey - You are the quarry
The Waifs - Up all night

Honorable mention
Jem - Finally woken

The rest are just shite.

The Walkmen "Bows + Arrows"

Belle & Sebastian "Dear Catastrophe Waitress"

…too name a few…let me think about it a little more.

If so, add it to my list, too lazy to edit.
