Post-punk & shoegaze onslaught this Friday, May 7th

Hey everyone,
Just thought I'd mention my friend Brandon and I will be spinning some choice tunes this Friday night at Marx Cafe in Mt. Pleasant. It's definitely not for everyone, but if you are into the darker/moodier/weirder side of the indie/alt scene, I would think it would be up your alley.
Here's more details:
DJ Trickster (Rick) & DJ Five-Year-Plan (Brandon) cordially invite you to join them for another monthly round of "We Fought the Big One"—D.C.'s quintessential musical playground for the best in moody & off-kilter U.K. alternative & International indie, this Friday (May 7th) at the Marx Cafe (3203 Mt. Pleasant Street, NW—not far from Adams Morgan).
As usual, you can expect to hear an electic & edgy mix of top drawer post-punk, jangle pop, shoegaze, left-of-center brit pop, indie electro, and other odds & ends, both new and vintage…
And most importantly, you will get a chance to hear the best new sounds coming out of the U.K. & other parts of the world before their domestic release!!!
Best of all, there's no cover all night long. (But you must be 21).
10:30pm - 3am
Hope to see you there!

In most areas of the country, that's all you get for live bands or dance music – you're lucky to be in a city where the best music venues are all ages. That's NOT the case in most mid-size or less cities….

Something I've also noticed about a lot of supposed "21+" club nights: Many of them are a bit lax with checking IDs. I think the Marx Cafe & the Blue Room don't have someone at the door checking IDs during the first hour or so that the club is open so my advice is, if you want to go, go early and you'll probably get in okay. ;)

One other reason to stop by the Marx Cafe tonight for the "Big One"…
Ulrich Schnauss
Hopefully I'm not the only one on the board that knows this guy…
