You guys do know that soda will kill you, right? Or so my wife tells me.
it won't kill you, it just is empty calories and a shit-ton of chemicals…rootbeer is the exception, because I like it
there was a party at my school over the weekend and we had a keg of dominion root beer.

ooo. what is the verdict on birch beer?

like it too. i think fanta actually makes a decent one.
you're really gunning for the "ms. call-back" award, aren't ya?!?

dang, i haven't had birch beer in, like 10-15 years… haven't thought about it since. yeah, damn good stuff. might have to hunt some down soon, if only to remember a taste from yonder years.

slowgraffiti - i take it your school is in a dry county?
Odd, I quite like Barq's. While it's not as good as the likes of Stewart's and such, I'd put it above Mug and A&W in a second. Barq's Red Cream Soda is tops, though.

I almost never drink soda anymore, though. I had some at the movies the other night, and that was probably my first in months.

And birch beer is awesome. Pennsylvania Dutch all the way.
Is the root beer they serve at Franklin's in College Park also Dominion? Definitely some damn good root beer regardless.

my school's quite wet. there were seventeen kegs of normal beer, but it was a school sponsored party so they always have a non-alcoholic option around.
if you want the best root beer, go to any sweet water tavern restaurant and get their homemade, brewed batch. beautiful.

You can always get Fanta Birch Beer at the 14th and U St McD's…wouldn't recommend anything else from there or Toxic Hell/KFC. Food poisoning is bad…

maybe a better title would have been "ms. throwback"… you've unburied several long-lost memories for me recently, like birch beer.
hmm… so is this a good thing or bad?
and things like that probably age me past what my actual age is, ha.

definitely a good thing, i like being reminded of warm fuzzies from years past like the yummy taste of birch beer. think of it as a veiled "thank you". forget what else it was that you reminded me of recently, but it was a good one too.

and despite how juvenile many of us act here (guilty!), we're probably older than you think so no worries about your age :)

haha. always good to hear. and nice to see 'thanks you' passed around on here, even if they are veiled. and you know, most everyone on here is probably older than i am, but at least i can legally drink/have a real job/live on my own. ;)
one hasn't lived until they attempted Moxie and IrnBru
I always liked birch beer a bit better that root beer. And prefer regular beer far more than either of those.
The only upside of seeing the redneck contingent of my family (besides, I guess, the kids) is stopping at Weiss to pick up a case of their Diet White Birch Beer. I do appreciate beers of the Birch, Root and Malt/Hops/Barley variety equally in different ways.
birch beer rocks
as does ginger beer
