You can get just as good of a Cheesesteak elsewhere, so waiting in line at Pat's is kind of overrated.
Philadelphia
Support local music stores and head to Space Boy Records.
I like to visit Manayunk too when I'm there.

You guys are thinking of Jim's on South Street - Pat's is in South Philly at 9th and Passyunk. Jim's is actually a really good cheesteak, I'd wait in line for that as opposed to going to Pat's or Geno's. But if you have a car and want the best cheesesteak, head up to Roxborough and go to Dallesandro's on Henry Ave.

You guys are thinking of Jim's on South StreetProbably… whatever the one is that's black&white bathroom-tiled if I remember correctly
the mutter museum is awesome and creepy and excellent and awesome again.
jim's steaks is the place to go.
around the corner is (i hope it's still there) the philadelphia record exchange. staffed largely of The Strapping Fieldhands if anyone remembers them.
There's a short run of good clubs on 2nd st. the khyber is still there. upstairs at nicks is something else now…

thanks for all the tips … monks and eulogy bar were great, awesome beer everywhere we went in the city actually, not sure if we just got lucky
I'm glad you went to Monks! It's one of my favorite bars in the US.
I'm going to be there this weekend. If anyone knows of good record stores that sell vinyl hook me up with the names.
If one of the record stores have any albums by The Fall I'll buy the person who recommended the place an ice cream cone.

there's a really neat club called The Fire; the stage is like…four feet wide. tiny. it is wonderful.

If you're into dance/techno. 611 records is great. It's at 611(natch) S 4th St. You see Josh Wink in there a lot. Or at least, you used to. I haven't been there in a while.

For records, I really like Cue (on 4th Street off South) – downtempo and midtempo breaks-y stuff, defiantly labeled with the old-school "trip-hop"; hip-hop; and soul/R&B stuff.
I thought 611 had closed and was going to re-open some new store or something; I could be wrong.
If you're looking for albums by the Fall, I'd try Spaceboy. Last I was there, it was above Zipperhead on South Street proper.

Spaceboy closed last year.
