Super Furry Animals Rollcall

Anyone heading out Sunday night for this one? Any word on what the Furries are doing live these days?
I may be in, although more for the Furnaces and Holy Fuck than the SFA.
I'll be there.

You can request songs you want played on this site:

http://www.beggarsgroupusa.com/blog/?p=231

I'll do my request tonight but it looks like there are only 5 songs requested so far for DC!
I'm there

and pumped as hell
that voting thing wotn be the only songs theyd play. however, there are some good choices there

anyone know what time sunday night shows like this one usually end?
this is pretty cool with requesting the songs (although it doesnt work for me at work :( ). Ill be seeing them tonight in williamsburg.
i have an extra ticket to saturday's show in philly - free to anyone who wants it, although i'll happy accept beer in exchange. PM me if interested.

Maybe.

Don't know much about SFA honestly but I've liked what little I've heard.

Love Holy Fuck live though.
I'll be there although I always come out of their shows disappointed. They've seemed disinterested and played short sets at the shows I've seen.
I'll be there. I bought tickets having never heard their music, on either 1) a vague recollection of someone's past recommendation or 2) blind faith and a desire to see more shows this year. I've since listened to Phantom Power and I'm digging it.
I'll be there.
I'm really interested in Holy fuck…i've only heard what is on their myspace.
Fiery furnaces i need to hurry up and download something.
and
sfa i like what i've heard. Sooooo it should be fun.
After doing a radiator–>guerrilla–>rings around the world marathon today I'm excited again. Surprise me SFA!!! Plus I think Hey Venus is one of their best so hopefully this is the one.

just came back from the philly show.

holy fuck tore the place up. their lo-fi junk-yard eletro had the place jumping. i strongly recommend that people get to the club in time to catch their set. azaghal, you won't be disappointed. bring your dancing boots.

we didn't get the fiery furnaces in philly, although it meant that we probably got a little more HF (they played for just under an hour - did i mention how enjoyable and danceable they were?)

SFA were very good, solid… but not mind-blowing. whereas HF hit you upside the head with a sonic sledgehammer, SFA won the crowd over with subtlety. pretty psychedelic pop that pleased, but after HF the crowd was pumped and it was quite a change of energy. i'm not sure this bill was a good pairing, if SFA had a calmer opener i would have left very very happy with their set. but instead i was glad i heard SFA, and really looking forward to hearing HF again (they mentioned that they'll be back in philly at johnny brendas in march, didn't ask about DC). to the person who complained about short sets: they played for about 1:40.

as always, YMMV. except for the holy fuck part - if you don't enjoy that, you have no soul.
awesome. can't wait.
Looking forward to all 3 bands. The last Holy Fuck album is really good. And I'm a bigger Fiery Furnaces fan now than before.

Did SFA do Venus & Serena?

they didn't last night.
it would have been nice just as a Evening with the Furries, as while the warm-up acts weren't horrid and unlistenable they didn't any value

Holy Fuck were pretty good, but need to work on their compositional skills a little… as all the songs had the same format of intro followed by a couple crescendos… Interesting melodies and hooks just very predictable. Plus, it's a pet peeve of mine but they need to figure out how to keep the flow going between songs. short song with lots of stops kinda of an energy killer..

Fiery Furnances - just didn't see what all the fuss is about them, to me they were just overly clever with all the tempo and what not changes and in need of a little editing.

SFA on the other fan had me engaged and hanging on every note from the get go. They are one of those bands that while I'll don't listen to them on frequent basis, the songs have seeped into my psyche. They also show restraint as they know how to keep the jammin' to just enough to just the right amount. They seem like the types that could easily get lost in the weeds with the guitar wankery… Rarely do I go into a show like this with any set lists of songs I'd like to hear, but they definitely played a number of my favs. Do I wish they had cut loose more often like they did for "The Man Who Don't Give a Fuck"? Of course but the softer stuff works just as well….
I thought Holy Fuck's live sets were completely improvised?

I didn't go because I'm lame.
