Thankfully, you can still moon in Maryland.
but can you play randy newman's "short people" on the radio?
You can't play ANY music anymore. Haven't you heard? It's all going news, talk and sports.

And in related news, the 9:30 Club is looking into ways they can designate the upstairs portion of the club as a "hookah bar".
LOL.

The timing of this sucks. I put up with cigarette smoke at shows for 20+ years, and the year that I'm planning on effectively retiring from going to clubs is the year they ban smoking. Great. But I guess I should be happy for the rest of the clubgoing DC audience.
Why the retirement? Is it cuz you're planning a family? Just cuz there's litte ones underfoot doesn't mean you never go out again.
You're right. "Extended vacation" from clubgoing would have been the more accurate term. Retirement, probably not.

:p You actually plan (with actual year) to stop going to shows? You don't head out that often now, really, do you? Why the need for an official going out party?

the DC ticket sales for alterna-country shows just dropped by 50%!!!!!
I plan to stop going to shows once my wife is pregnant and when we have a small infant at home. When the kid gets older, I reckon we'll begin going to shows again, if it's something we're still interested in.

Celeste is still going to go?
Yep, the 9:30 Club will only be half full the next time Old 97's or Drive By Truckers come to town.

awww, is that what happened? all of your favourite bands are now popular and they sell out the club now? thats a shame.
Is your game plan to try to say random stuff that will draw my ire? It isn't working, nice guy.

thats your game, actually. i just made a joke.
It definately does…I have 2 kids….I guess that makes me a doubly super duper bad parent. The least I could do is give the kids something better to sleep on than a straw mat on a dirt floor and newspapers for diapers. Who can afford anything though with these 930 ticket prices!

They say that kid is 9 but just look at the picture….he's at least 10 or 11. They would have been fine home alone for a few days.
Geez, ladies. Don't get so defensive. By the time I have a kid and (s)he's beyond infancy, I'll be well into my 40's. I don't envision myself going to club shows forever, so who knows if I'll even still have the desire. And having a wife who has minimal interest in going to shows (until I take her and she actually enjoys herself) doesn't exactly make concerts a hot date event…

That being said, good for you. Glad you can work the rock and roll into your schedules. More power to you.

One or two nights a year at best. What happened to "date night"? Gotta keep things new w/ the home fires burning, ya know? (for kid #2… )
