Robbie Fulks on the Today show Friday

Since there are so many Fulks fans here, thought I'd share…

The Opry's anniversary is being covered by the Today show on October 14th as well. The show will run a segment featuring footage of Robbie performing at the Opry and talking-head comments from Robbie on the venue, the occasion, and the feeling of singing on country's greatest stage. A version of the piece will also run on that evening's Nightly News on NBC, but it's unclear whether that version will include Robbie. Be sure to record Robbie schmoozing with Katie and Matt from 7-10 a.m., October 14th.
don't you automatically poke fun at any artist which appears on a morning news or chat show?

why is fulks not garning any of your usual "clever" remarks for this appearence…
An interview and clips of someone performing a separate show is a totally different thing than a performance where the record company is paying for the Today show appearance. Get the difference?

no
Artist A appears on a cheesy show to promote themselves/ their product.

Artist B appears on a cheesy show to talk about a topic someone deemed worthy of reporting.

whatever helps you sleep at night, Rhett…
but wont this mean that you'll have to share IOTA with a bunch of drunk on a half of glass of wine swilling, cellphoning yacking, track suiting wearing soccer moms the next time Fulks plays there? unless of course you find that crowd "HOTT"

tell me more about these track-suit wearing soccer moms.
Will Fulks be on before or after the segment where they show you how to make that Jell-o thing with the little marshmallows in it?

So I guess the irony in all of this is that Robbie Fulks was the guy who wrote "Fuck This Town" about Nashville, and now he's on the fucking Today Show blabbing on about hte Grand Ole Opry.

Yeah, and Fulks doesn't view this as free advertising…

Like someone said, whatever helps you sleep at night!
So, is the jury still out on Fulksie? Bands such as Bon Jovi, Clapton & Fulks can probably gain cred now by appearing with Katie & Matt.

What bands would instantly lose cred by appearing on The Today Show?

McRorie
They are playing "Roots Rock Weirdos" on WOXY.

Rhett can look forward to legions of cell-phone chatting, ironic t-shirt wearers at Fulks' next local gig.
