Guns are also illegal in the district….they're really tough on that one too.

it must be nice to be able to spend $2000 to get out of paying $400 plus counseling.

again, stupid d.c. over-regulating itself. having a set limit is fine, but to have a double-secret limit under that limit is shady.

Sounds like a fair law to me, just think, it might actually save a life. Go figure.

not letting anybody drive at all would save lives too, as would making alcohol illegal again.

without having a drink, you or i most likely would have a .01 blood alcohol limit - enough to qualify as "drunk" under that law.
the point is- if that's where the actual demarcation is, then make that the official stance, not, well, our official stance is .03 (or whatever), but if we pull you over, and decide that you are acting funny (for whatever reason), we can determine that you are drunk.

Am I missing something? I thought legal BAC was .08, not .05

Read the article. .08 is national, .05 is the D.C. law, with this arbitray caveat that even .01 can be illegal under an officer's judgement.
Actually, it says .05 in Maryland and Virginia. DC says it has zero tolerance. Wow.

Look, if only having one drink is what the law allows…why bother having one drink? Just don't drink at all. It's that simple really.
Reading the paper.
Putting on eyeliner.
Yelling at the kid who's misbehaving in the back
seat.
Changing the radio station/cd.
Talking on a bluetooth or other hands free device.
Checking out her arse who's walking along the street.
Drinking coffee or other hot beverage…or cold for that matter.
Lighting a cigarette.
Smoking a cigarette, because you may drop it on your lap while driving.
…all these things my friends are more distracting than driving after one single glass of wine. Should we make them illegal? I say yes!

I have an idea that would help curb drinking and driving.
how about eliminating parking lots from bars!!!
