Top 5 Belle & Sebastian songs

1) "I'm a Cuckoo"
– one of the catchiest songs of the aughts

2) "If You're Feeling Sinister"
– great wordplay, best song on their best album

3) "The Boy With the Arab Strap"
– if only this album was half as good as this song

4) "Me and the Major"
– catchiest song on their best album

5) "I Know Where the Summer Goes"
– a lot of people shit on this song, but i really like it, the lyrics like "when your underarms smell" and "i've got my mobile phone / it's full of silicon chips" make me grin

Honorable Mention: "I'm Waking Up to Us"
1. Maneater
2. Rich Girl
3. Kiss on My List
4. Private Eyes
5. I Can't Go For That (No Can DO)

Though I could list five more I like just as much.
Whooaah here she comes, dog on wheels will chew you up.
hilarious.

although that period may imply sarcasm, i'm not being facetious … referencing the whole ampersand connection these two groups have is just really, laugh-out-loud, roll-on-the-floor funny.
Hmm…

I'd say quickly that my top five B&S songs would be:

The State I Am In
Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying
I Could Be Dreaming
Jonathan David
A Century of Fakers

Your choices are all great, though, except for I'm a Cuckoo, which is definitely in my top 5 worst list…
"Your Cover's Blown" is, in my opinion, the best B&S song ever. It's on one of the newer eps. It's like a twee Bohemian Rhapsody.

I also like:
Like Dylan in the Movies
I Know Where the Summer Goes
Sleep the Clock Around
Don't Leave the Light On
Seeing Other People
hoya, that list is riduculous. seriously, it is.

1. lazy line painter jane
2. the state i am in
3. judy & the dream of horses
4. the stars of track and field
5. sleep the clock around

blasphemer!!

i like all these too … some of them, like "jane" and "judy" would probably be in my top 10
"boy with the arab strap" (one of my favorite songs of the past 10 years)
"ease your feet into the sand"
"get me away from here, i'm dying"
"i don't love anyone"
"expectations" (i still remember at the DAR show the girl that screamed out "play track 2 from 'tigermilk'!"…pretty funny)
Get me away from here I'm dying
Sleep the clock around
Dirty dream number two
The boy with arab strap

these four way ahead of any other B&S song.
this is tough. in no particular order:

Sleep the Clock Around
Summer Waiting
Stars of Track & Field
The State I Am In
Legal Man

…and Your Cover's Blown is a very neat tune but just tries a little too hard to really be B&S's greatest song.
Is it just me who really likes Belle and Sebastian the song?

Mom, Pop, so what did you think of my new girlfriend, she is real pretty and slender and isn't she just so lovely and nice?

"we think she is a little boring."

Oh, thanks :(

The one with the facial hair just stood around whilst the other guy did all the work.
Having just received a few live CDs of theirs, I have to say that my favorites (and this is REALLY tough) are:

1) Sleep the Clock Around
2) Jonathan David
3) The Loneliness of a Middle Distance Runner
4) I Love My Car
5) Expectations

to round out the top 10 I would add:

6) Seeing Other People
7) Women's Realm
8) Stay Loose
9) Marx and Engels
10) Storytelling
And String Bean Jean :)

Try again, your stab really isn't that funny.
