Dandy Warhols Presale info

Does that mean that one would need drugs in order to enjoy their live show?

Hey, we should have done this before we set out on the touring season, but hey, what can you do. We wanted to let everyone know that owing to our near three hour onstage sets, we are no longer touring with support acts. So, kids, when your ticket says "An Evening with the Dandy Warhols" and starts at 9pm, you had better get there at that time an expect to rock. That is all.
If you look between the lines, you'll notice it also says, "don't forget the drugs."

No. They just provide an "enhancement." Especially when they kick into the 52 minute version of Fast Driving Rave Up.
Just saw this from a regular board member of the BJM list:  Saw the Dandys last night. They sounded great. It was all about the music,
and they played for 2 1/2 hours. Heard old gems like Nothing, Genius, Lou
Weed, Ride…..gotta give them lots of credit when credits due….

rob
That is great news! Ride, Genius, and Nothing are among my all-time favorite DW songs. I can listen to Dandys Rule OK? over and over. Should be an excellent show!

Whoa! 3 hours??
Does the three hours usually include a 45 minute soundcheck?

[/QB] Only if neeeded. Can't blame them for that,I wouldn't want to play either if my sound was Shite!Better for all involved if they get it right, even if means waiting awhile.Just gives more time for another cold one.I'd say you have a better chance of getting an entertaining show if the band is happy with things.
Courtney Taylor-Taylor & Brent DeBoer played an acoustic set this
morning (taped two weeks ago in NYC). The set started with sloooowwww
version of 'Last Time-Rolling Stones, some Thirteen Tales stuff in the
middle and ended with 'Stars-the brian jonestown massacre.
You can probably still check it out
http://www.KCRW.com
90% of their audience was underage, and the beer section was sectioned off at the back. "Another cold on" wouldn't have applied to most of their audience.
There was plenty of time between them and the previous act (45 mins) so that they should have had the sound right.
Making people stand there in a crowded room for 45-90 mins so you can get the sound just right seems a bit self-indulgent. None of the other acts that had performed there that day had delayed their performance, and the sound sucked when they were playing.

I was just stating what I would do in said circumstance.Don't sweat the small stuff ya know. Sometimes you just get stuck with a bad show.Shame it was one you had been looking forward to.However,it is not the norm for them to sound shitty. Then again,it was a festival with several bands playing on the same system wasn't it?That's always tough for the soundman, particularly if he's not familiar with the band.Sorry to hear about your luck.If you feel like giving them another shot, drinks are on me next Friday!
Thanks, but I think they're one of those bands that I would just enjoy hearing the single on the radio from time to time. Seems like they like to do extended versions of their songs, and I'm more of a 4 minute pop song lover myself…
It's always possible that they got into town late and didn't have the advantage of an earlier sound check. Don't really know. Sorry you got stuck with a bad one. I'm looking forward to their show next week.

OK,but if you change your mind, the offer is still open.Did anyone catch Mister Johnny Rotten on Jimmy Kimmel the other nite?Mister Johnny Rotten,he's so funny!Wonder how long it took him to come up with that.Jimmy rippin off his shirt as he introduced them was hilarious IMHO.And Mr. T. as co-host no less.I pity the fool.
Actually, I saw the chick and the drummer hanging out at the festival, walking around to various foodstands. It's more likely they got high, got the munchies, and didn't show up for the soundcheck when they were supposed to.

LOLOLOL. I had wondered about that too but didn't bother to mention it. You may be right. You'd think by now that they would have that part down. Oh, well. Some heads never learn!
Another blurb from a BJM board member regarding the Minnesota show.Good to see Courtney seemingly over his spat with Anton for the time being: So I went and saw the Dandy's finally after missing them the last
few times they've been through Minnesota. They played what I
believe was their first show at First Ave here in Minneapolis. To
my surprise the show looked close to sold out, and after missing
about 20min of the beginning of their set I struggled through the
crowd to find a suitable place to stand. I was actually pretty
impressed with how good the show turned out to be. A pretty broad
set-list was played with a pretty noticeable lack of songs off the
new album (imo). One of the funniest moments occurred when a young
woman was pulled up out of the crowd to get spankings from Zia
during what I believe was White Gold. When Zia finished Courtney
handed the girl the mic to say a few words. The girl seemed pretty
drunk but screamed out one question. "Hey! Do you know Anton?!"
This question totally took me by surprise due to the fact that she
didn't know the dandy's at all, and well, what an odd question to
ask in front of an almost full First Avenue crowd? Courtney
meanwhile, simply turns his head, looks at the crowd and
mutters.."Doesnt everyone know Anton?.." In a slow, low pitch,
cooler than cool rockstar kinda way. The crowd erupts into laughter
and the band breaks into what I think was We Used to Be Friends.
so Sparx, are you coming to the Dandies gig on Friday? If you dont mind facially disfigured people you should come and say hello to some of us.

I have that as the last track from their Black album. What do yu guys think of it compared to their proper releases?

I liked the other covers (Hell's Bells, Ohio) better than Edmund Fitzgerald. They also did The Nuge's "Free for All" which was kind of weird.
