STP Reunion this summer

disagree
yeah, a pavement reunited thread would get pretty long quickly. . .i'd only fear that it would turn quickly into an episode of the chris farley show- remember that video where they all dressed up like santa claus and shot down turkeys with a bow and arrow? that was pretty awesome.
STP reunion is pretty fucking sweet. I would love to see them again. (Maybe they'll play V-fest?)
STP was the Lenny Kravitz of grunge… that is, every song of theirs sounded like someone else. To be fair, though, they did their copycatting pretty well, and I'd much rather hear them than Pearl Jam any day. And that song "Plush" is great. Where are you going when the dogs begin to smell her?
A Neutral Milk Hotel thread would top a Pavement thread.
I didn't much care for STP until the "Tiny Music" album came out, and there are some damn fine pop/hard rock tunes on that record, when Weiland finally stopped trying to sound like someone else and developed his own distinct vocal style. And last year at the VFest he had the most convincing rock presence of anyone in the entire festival. So while STP deserved to be slammed for some things, they nonetheless had an excellent guitarist, bassist and drummer, as well as a dynamic frontman, which basically made them a decent band. But as for seeing them again … um, nah.
it's official, STP are back together this summer:

The Range Rocks Again

Straight from the American heartland comes the Rock On The Range festival. The show is back for its second year and it's even bigger this time around.

Presented by Right Arm Entertainment, AEG Live, and The Columbus Crew Stadium, the event has expanded to two days - May 17 and 18 - at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

The line-up includes the reunited Stone Temple Pilots and will mark the group's first performance together in more than seven years.

Other bands on the bill include: Kid Rock, 3 Doors Down, Disturbed, Staind, Papa Roach, Seether, Serj Tankian, Flyleaf, Shinedown, Killswitch Engage, Finger Eleven, Alter Bridge, Filter, Theory of a Dead Man, Sevendust, Default, 10 Years, Bobaflex, Red, Airbourne, Black Tide, Revelation Theory, Ashes Divide, Drive A, and more.

i won'der how many people that reference is lost upon. arguably one of the funniest moments in the history of television.

I get that reference despite it being from the 70's. I thought of it, for some reason, when I watched the exploding whale clip on YouTube. Which I watched after watching "Jaws" clips.

No kidding. I've been laughing about it for the last hour and will continue to do so until it's replaced my usual deep, thigh-cutting shame.

i loved that show when i was growing up. . .the other great episode is the softball one.
Nickelback are missing from that godawful bill.
I can't believe you guys managed to make a thread about STP reuniting so damn enjoyable. I will not stop thinking about this all day now.
i've been trying to locate "turkey drop" on youtube, etc but can't find it anywhere, only a RealMedia stream of the audio (which is still funny as hell). lots of "this clip no longer available" - looks like the WKRP lawyers cleaned up the intertubes.

edit: smackie, i luvz u… a shame that clip doesn't have the signature "as god as my witness" closing segment.

you can watch the entire episode here
getting this back on track: pollstar is reporting that STP will play toronto in july, two months after their first gig in columbus. methinks lots more date to be announced - coming soon to a large venue near you? VFest?
