Driveblind rollcall

This one is more of a suggestion then a recommendation as there isn't much to go on regarding Driveblind live or on record.

Driveblind formed in Aberdeen, Scotland did some gigs and recording there, then went to LA to seek fame and fortune. While in LA they got found a manager who got them a record deal at A&M. The band relocated to LA where they have been working on their major label release.

I first heard the band on a sampler and was quite taken by thier track. Turns out it was a live in studio demo the band had done. I'm not sure what to make of the fact the band has been in the studio for almost two years. Seems an awful long time for a band just getting started. Almost as if the record company isn't hearing the "single" and if they aren't having molding their sound to fit the musical landscape better.

Unlike The Charlatans who took several years to reach geezer rock, Driveblind headed straight in that direction. Loads of classic rock influences in their sound. Could be great or wank hard to say on what I've heard so far.

Supporting Nikka Costa who I even know less about…

Great show overall. Driveblind were young but very polished and entertaining - ready for the radio. Very strong lead and backup vocals, solid tunes, good charisma. I had a feeling during the set that the group, while not faking, seemed to have a packaged feel â?? makes sense if theyâ??ve been incubating for a long time. I picked up the 3 song EP, and the tracks were similarly well-crafted. That first track sounds just like somebody, but I canâ??t quite place itâ?¦

Nikka Costa was brilliant. I had only heard a few tracks but had a feeling that she would be good live. Her â??Like a Featherâ? video from a few years ago was striking. Sheâ??s a true performer and it shows. Great voice and energy. She can pull off soul, jazz, blues, and straight ahead rock. The backup band was also quite good. Great to see a singer give 100% and love doing it.

i didn't go… too many late nights and not enough sleep took it's toll…

glad to hear they were good… the song i heard which maybe from that ep "the fool rides again" sounds a bit like Charlatans UK, with the organ..

i expect they be around these parts several times once the album drops.
