CD Mixers

Wondering if anyone can help me out, Kosmo maybe or anyone.
I am looking into getting a CD mixer this spring, but dont know much about them. Anyone have one? know anything about them? I dont wanna buy some crap and i hate salesman.

buying a mixer and pro cds players is dependent on what your willing to spend what you want plan to use them for.

Stanton, Numark, American DJ all make "entry" level and top end equipment. Denon and Pioneer lean to the more expensive. It's one of the cases where there aren't that many manufacturers and most music store employee's are clueless when it comes to selling DJ equipment.

The more expensive equipment gets you optical outputs, the ablility to scratch a cd as if where a record, loads of special effects such as creating loops, play mp3 discs, etc. Mixers can be basic, two channel units for crossfading or turntablism. Obviously, more channels provides more input sources. My mixer has the capability of eqing out the high, middle or low end, important for mixing where you want to mute the bass line of one song for crossfading purposes.

So what do you want from the setup…

Stay away from those all-in-one systems whatever you do! For a really good Dual CD Player for the money, you can't beat the Numark CDN-34! You could score one on Ebay relatively cheap for about $150-200. Personally I really dig the CDN-88. :)

I would like something semi easily portable and something semi simple, as least to start out with. I feel no need to scratch, but something that plays mp3 discs and a good EQ (since my mp3s seem to be all different volumes!!!) sound like good options.
something i could take to a party or something and be the cool "DJ" guy. :)

you think Gemini is crap? Numark does sound like a better brand.

really? i thought thats what they all looked like.
so i should get the CD players and the mixer seperate?

see, i was going to just get one of those thingys.

:) Yes you should get seperate pieces. It's kinda like not getting a DVD player built into your TV. If one goes you're screwed…
