interesting that nine thirty is always the number one venue to see music, and you [vomit] within a box. wolftrap is so awesome though. when beck played there it was as if the second coming (beyond dar) was achieved, but i feel that beck does that to every venue he plays. god knows patriot needs a little divine intervention.
and completely off of the subject, but have you or anyone else on here ever heard of something called e-blast, which is somehow based inside the confines of the washingtonpost?

I couldn't find the part of the poll that disaggregated the suburbanites' votes from those of the urban denizens. Could you provide a link to those stats?

my projectile vomiting was actually in reference to the "10 Ten Bands" … the venues are relatively reasonable, but big snub to DC9, velvet lounge and warehouse

I imagine it is a source of ceaseless comfort to believe oneself superior to those with tastes different from one's own.

How could they leave Clutch out of the top local bands. Maybe it had nothing to do with good music?

Mainstream bands and venues that cater to mainstram music (e.g. 9:30 Club) rule the day. What else would you expect?

The Post does a really lame job presenting the results. All you get is a bland boosterish line for the winner? How about snark, discussion of the list, what was close, etc? Potential wasted. Does City Paper do a similar list with a little more interest?

Just a statement, not a snub.
In general, bands that play the 9:30 Club are bands that have achieved a certain amount of mainstream commercial success.

It's hard to tell if that's a snub or not?

Neither have I. Band-wise, I'm
completely out of touch.
I know that Gonzo's Nose is a Dewey Beach-type cover band from my early days at the Clarendon Ballroom with my friends who had places out in Dewey…

you're right GGW, a lack of taste isn't a suburban or urban issue, there are plenty of DCites who have no cultural taste at all either … but it's clear that most of these voters were from virginia, otherwise we would have gotten Grog & Tankard as a "top 10 venue" along with the crap bands that play there
