Arctic Monkeys roll call

BTW, I have 4, yeah that's right, 4 extra tickets tonight. Someday I'll learn not to buy for others who turn out to be slackers.

I've offered them up at cost on the x-change thread.

This'll be by first AM show. Can't wait!

Cameras?

So should I assume your PM to me, offering one ticket for $60+ was a mistake?

OUCH, somebody is not following the rules.
Ouch, someone made a typo mistake and was pricing a pair.

I wouldn't be snarky enough to scalp in this esteemed forum.

I shall re-read all posts before hitting send…

Not to be an alarmist, but with the nasty thunderstorm coming our way can someone remind me what happened when the Sleater-kinney show was cancelled/rescheduled because of a small fire. Was that weather related, or some internal issue?
I think that was overloading due to the intense heat, if I recall. Best thing that could've happening in my opinion. Got to catch the Oneida show and still see Sleater-Kinney!

That was due to an underground transformer fire (or something of the like) right outside the front door of the club. It was weather related in the sense that it was August and hot as hell.
When i saw Wolfmother, I was right upfront and 2 dudes damn near broke my camera. What's the deal? No more pictures allowed to be taken? I've been taking pics at the club for years, was it just the Wolfmother show? I'm so sad. So many kodak moments brought by the Wolf gang.
anyone have a guess as to how long Be Your Own Pet will play?

i don't get it… were the "2 dudes" security staph, or two random patrons? how did they damn near brake your camera?
30 minutes

FYI, be your own pet's set time has been updated to 9:00 (instead of previous 8:45).

monkeys unchanged at 10:00
still not sure what i thought about tonights show. it wasnt bad, but it wasnt amazing. They flew threw all of their songs quickly, but thats a given since most of their songs are short.

I couldn't hear what the lead singer was telling the crowd in between songs. their interaction with the crowd wasnt there. from what i saw, the lead singer and drummer would only talk to each other.

Was I the only person that was annoyed as hell with the girl on the balcony who was screaming in between songs like she was in a horror movie??? I thought about using ear plugs in between songs, it was that bad.
BYOP: too loud, all drums and vocals, no bass or guitar. reinforces belief that soundmen make the opener sound bad on purpose - i'm no mixing pro, but to get balance that bad one has to do it on purpose. singer had great pipes. would definitely see again in a smaller venue.

monkeys: good solid show, unfortunately i'm not a huge fan otherwise it might have ranked higher in my estime. crowd was good and energetic. above average, but not amazing.

no you weren't, i kid you not: SHE WAS RIGHT BEHIND US. like 2-3 feet away. every time she screamed, i involuntarily flinched. this was the first show i caught from a central balcony position, but she made me regret it. shrieking should be a reason for expulsion (ok, not that bad, but damn close). i expected to find a 13-year-old fan-girl behind me, instead she was a woman in her mid-twenties or early thirties (rather cute too - *sigh*). obviously an AM fan but daaaaaang, pipes almost as good as the BYOP singer! good thing i was wearing ear plugs, otherwise she would have caused more damage than the PA. glad to hear i'm on the only one to be annoyed by her (actually, after that, glad to hear anything at all :) )
Concur, solid but not great. Didn't expect the frat boy contigent, how do these clowns find out about these shows? Shrieking girl was a "gotsa go" situation, but what can you do, it's america we allow that kind of shite? Set list was decent, too much old not enough new ( ok exageration, but I would have loved to hear the entire new album it's so phuckin good) for my tastes but again it's america we demand the "hits." A guy my age (well probably a little younger) bit it (solid face crash to the floor) as soon as the first song (b-side) ended. Haven't seen that since the 80s, straight no chaser moment and his boys (well men) grabbed him and there were a bunch of "dude, you just hit the floor; I know I'm sooooo phucked up." Classic actually. And a group of Brit expats were in the vicinity ostensibily to critique the "yanks" because they didn't seem to be into the show. Newsflash: We didn't pass muster. Anyway I enjoyed the second half of the set the most, my only complaint would be no "505." Goodnight.

Gawd, did I bite that off that poseur? I think Tony K. is brillant, but Wilbon is so melodramatic to the point of nausea. Apologies I'll try to get better references.
were the frat guys moshing or just acting like plain idiots in general?
The guy who passed out brushed me on the way down.

AM were pretty good. It was nice to hear a greater selection of songs, since they have 2 albums out now. Was hoping to hear their cover of Winehouse's You Know I'm No Good, but didn't expect it. I thought they sounded much better last time they played here, but I was in the balcony then and on the floor last night. I think this band's show rises and falls with the crowd. The audience last night was actually pretty enthusiastic, but I think the band is used to thousands of kids going mentally apeshit. They're never going to be the most demonstrative band (the bassist's facial expression during the entire show was the same one that he uses to watch TV), but I'll bet in the UK, their shows have become an "event".

BYOP sounded pretty crappy when they played the BC Backbar a year or ago. Not sure how they sounded when they opened for Sonic Youth, but they do need to work on their dynamics. I hope her bandmates are saving their money, because she's gonna dump them one of these days. Female band singers always do. Seriously, has there been any successful band where the female singer/songwriter hasn't eventually ditched the band and gone solo?

Not really moshing, they were attempting to dance but you know in that drunk-Dave-Matthews-kind-of banging-into-to-everyone-swaying thing that all the rage in the frat house? I don't want to be too harsh, at least they knew some of the words and were enthusiastic without starting a fight. I guess I was just surprised, I admit I don't know whether the AM's are on the radio or if there's a place to see their videos they just don't seem like they would be popular amongst that crowd but I dont'want to be a hater or elitest. Uh, too late.

my friend described it as controlled aggression - I thought it was a good show - I had been wavering but I'm glad I went - some sublime moments - for such young guys they seem very in control, I was surprised to see their libation of choice was water….
