darth vader is watching you from the washington national

linka-dinka-doo
how timely. i was at the cathedral just yesterday, having a picnic with the lady and lazing about in the sun. even saw the vader head, which i check out every time i'm there - neat to see popular culture affecting religion like that. random sweetcell factoid: last time i was at the cathedral it was to take the lady for a picnic on our first date, followed up by dinner at mie n yu.

while the existance of this is ancient news for me, personally, i did learn one thing for the link: the vader is a grotesque and not a gargoyle. i'm smarts!!!

I've been there several times over the years and never been able to find Vader. Now I know where he is, but the link says he is almost impossible to see without binoculars.
i particularly like the robert e. lee and stonewall jackson stained glass windows
Years ago I had a chance to tour various parts of the cathedral roof and saw many cool grotesques up there. I do not remember all of them, but I do remember Vader and a little guy carrying a golf bag. In addition to the contest winners mentioned in the link, many stone masons put "signature" carvings and characters where they work…leading to a lot of non-traditional things on various buildings.
