Why does it seem that I am the only one that thinks Interpol sucks? A blatant Joy Division rip off! What is it that I am missing?
Interpol-What's The Big Deal??
If you have listened to the band and have found you don't like their sound, don't listen to them.
It's just a band, a very good one in my opinion. You're not missing anything, there isn't anything to "get." That said, if you can listen to Antics and still use that same tired Joy Division comparison, I'll send you some Q-tips. <img src="http://www.nxsupport.net/forums/images/smilies/carrot.gif" alt=" - " />

While I still like "Turn on the Bright Lights" and enjoyed their shows a couple of years ago, I find "Antics" an awful album.
I never even thought the Joy Division comparison worked for the first album. Banks' vocals could get into the same flat, dire range as Ian Curtis', but very little else lines up. The rhythms are too propulsive, the arrangements too lush. With Antics, all those comparisons should really be put to bed.
Show was great last night–good till about the middle, at which point they tore up "Not Even Jail" and annihilated the second half of the setlist in fine fashion. "Specialist" was a great treat.

I love Interpol, but I thought they sounded pretty rough last night. Something was going on with Daniel, the guitarist. Plus the sound was pretty murky. Not the usual pristine crispness. Still enjoyed myself, though. On to tonight's show! Let's hope it's better.
They are a great band and they sounded great last night.
Speaking of Joy Division, Ian is on the cover of the new Uncut magazine. Hard to believe it's been 25 years since he hung himself. Nice pic of his daughter Natalie in there as well.

Somebody remind me next time the board breaks to start the Interpol/Joy Division debate.
Thanks in advance.
