My big summer plan was to use some of my available time off (switched jobs last year and had a ton of commitments so I had none to spare) and hit either Lollapalooza, Pitchfork or Intonation. But that was before my two best friends got engaged, both of whom are getting married in the fall. Oh well…maybe next year….

The three-day concert will take place in Grant Park from Aug. 3-5, and Lollapalooza promoters don't plan on announcing the 130-band lineup or putting tickets on sale for several weeks, until late March or early April.

I don't know if anyone is planning on going to this, but if you're down with hostel life instead of a hotel, there's a hostel less then 2 blocks from the venue and you can stay August 2nd-6th for $130 total.

we stayed at the congress hotel last year…it think it was about $800 (though $200 of that was the fucking $50 a day it cost to park our car in the garage at the hotel!!! and we paid extra for the lake view room too)
not too expensive for chicago, you could do cheaper, but i dont know that you could be much closer…we could hear and see the show from our room!
