I have the biggest crush on Kim Coletta.

Brian
I still have no idea what emo is.
I'm not sure what emo is either, but I've read that this was one of the first emo records. I know it doesn't suck. Therefore, I pick this as an emo album that does not suck.

Dear You is the only emo record that you need to own. I got addicted to it before I even knew what emo was, and I'm glad that I was oblivious. The whole label thing is just so lame. It's a great record from start to finish, 'nuff said. I remember buying it new at HMV in Georgetown for like $5.99 and then being totally floored after about the third listen. I got to see Jawbreaker at the Black Cat and it wasn't a really happy kind of show (as is often the case when a band is on the verge or breaking up). Just glad that I got to see them play at least once.

I dont think Blake Schwarzenbach has ever been mistaken for happy
Actually, I've met him a few times and he is always really kind of upbeat and outgoing. So was Adam…Chris (the bass player) was the miserable one. Not sure anyone ever caught the interview they did in Punk Planet a few years ago, that pretty much clued you in to what was what. They were a really good band, and they also knew how to rock too.

i guess i was thinking of when they canceled a tour due to his depression (during the Jets to Brazil days)
I seriously am unsure about what emo is really. Can someone just list 100 or so emo bands from the emo period and I'll just pick which ones I think are OK?
i'm sure it's because i listened to these ALOT in high school, but they still hold up today:

they were tagged as emo in the mid-to-late 90s, which seems kind of right … a lot of indie rock from that period, especially from the pacific northwest (modest mouse is a good example), was getting the emo label

after mainstream pop-punk (and even metal) co-opted "emo", it doesn't make much sense at all
