ESPN lists all the songs players request be played as they step in to the batters box. I only looked at the Cardinals songs, boy are they bad.

A few years back there was an Oriole who's song was by the Afghan Whigs. Not sure which player or which song….but I do remember it was off Gentlemen.
I've long since boycotted Mr. Angelos.

"Johnny Damon: An assortment of Creed and Metallica." On a related note, ESPN's foray into music is really embarassing. TSN.ca is the place to go for sports news now, even if it means missing out on which utility infielder loves 3 Doors Down.

BJ Surhoff of the O's used to use "How Soon is Now" by the Smiths. I see he has moved on to Dire Straits and Pearl Jam.
My favorit bit of info gleaned from this has to be that Armando Benitez likes country music
RHP Armando Benitez "Big Pimpin'" Jay-Z
Armando, strangely enough, is a huge country music fan. But, despite his love for Kenny Chesney, Armando comes out to rap music. Originally, this season Armando warmed up to the tune of Notorious BIG's "Big Poppa," but recently switched the tune to Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin." Either way, whether it be a Poppa or Pimpin', the fact remains – Armando is big when it comes to saves.

the problem is that Peter Gammons is always including references to music in his writing, but he has horrible taste in music

Just avoid ESPN's Page 3 and you'll be fine. That's what I do. An ESPN Insider subsrciption has the best writing and most up to date news/rumors.
Page 3 should be left for for half naked women anyway.

When Walt Weiss played for the Rockies he had the song Kennsington Line by Big Head Todd and the Monsters which means nothing to anyone if they didn't got to high school in the Denver area sometime between the years 1990-97.
I will miss Larry Walker's Black Sabbath song now that he has been traded.
