What's your schedule...

3/15 - Blackfield - Rams Head Tavern
3/17 - Explosions - 930
3/20 - Lindsay Buckingham - Rams Head Live
3/26 - Cedars - DC9
4/1 - Amiina - 930
4/13 - Junior Boys - Black Cat
5/9 - Air - 930
5/15 - Porcupine Tree - Fox Theater
5/17 - Mono - RNR Hotel
6/2 - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - 930
If I lived closer to DC, I'd go to a lot more shows than I do. As it is, I end up passing on many shows I'd like to see because I just don't feel like driving all the way down there and then back up, especially on weeknights. I was planning on seeing Maria Taylor tonight, for example, and ended up deciding not to go. So it's hard for me to be definite on shows most of the time. My concert schedule changes constantly as a result. What really sucks is that I'm often reluctant to buy tickets for a show very far in advance. Anyway, here's what I've got right now. Bolded ones are as definite as possible for me, meaning that in most cases I actually have tickets for them.

 • 3/17 - Explosions in the Sky (9:30): I still need to find a ticket for this. Anyone got a spare? :) Or at least an opinion on how easily I might find one the night of the show? I'm considering trying to make the Philadelphia show, too.

 • 3/21 - Pete Yorn (9:30) or Reverend Horton Heat / Murder By Death (Chameleon)

 • 3/22 - Pete Yorn (Sonar): Only if I don't catch one of the 9:30 shows.

 • 3/23 - Reverend Horton Heat / Murder By Death (Ottobar): If I catch this show at the Chameleon, there's a slight chance I may end up seeing Snow Patrol at Bender. Crazy few days. >_>

 • 3/29 - Ted Leo (9:30)

 • 5/15 - Mono / World's End Girlfriend / Grails (RnR Hotel): Only if I can't make the Ottobar show, or if I enjoy the show enough to see it again the next night.

Portland board time, but do you like the Doug Fir? So many shows are there but I dont go that often because I just dont care for it. Or maybe just because I am not that close to it. I much prefer Dantes or the Towne Lounge, they just dont get that many shows.

Just when I thought I knew where all these shows are taking place, I'm lost on a few postings.

Do May Say Think - Memory loss - local band?

renton - nice to see someone going to the Sammies' show at BC! (Forumites at holiday party - they are on one of the samplers from SXSW)

Reod Dai - I'm with you re: distance and weeknights. Lack of money too. I'd like to go to RnR Hotel, sounds sketchy over there. Sucks for me. My list won't encompass half the stuff I want to see.
Sorry for the crosstalk…

I planned for Autumn Defense tonight, waivering due to work.

A question for those with long lists:

How do you manage to get excited about a particular show, when you've got 12 other shows to see in the same month?

some very impressive lists out there and lots of shows I'd like to go to but with 2 kiddies its just not feasible (unless I want divorce papers in my future)!

RnR has a great lineup but I am spoiled at being 15 mins from the Black Cat and 9.30 and don't want to schlep across town to see a show

eh, when live music is your obsessions, it's pretty easy :) seriously, i don't get excited about much else. i don't watch TV, i'm not a huge sports fan… sometimes i think my sense of time is distorted by my obsession - i date when things happen by what shows occured around then :) typical reminder by my GF: "you remember that indian restaurant we ate at, shortly after the stereolab show?"

also, the above list isn't indicative of my regular schedule, just so happens that march and april are packed. jan & feb were pretty lean. last time it was this busy was rocktober.

It keeps me going. It's inspiration to get all my work done and its a nice night out. Going to s who with some friends and sometimes even meeting the bands. I'm happy concert season is back. :D
I understand what you guys are saying, but my point is, if you're doing it two or three or four nights a week, it's becoming your life. It's becoming your second job. It's becoming your norm, no something special.

Maybe a good analogy: I like to eat pizza. If I eat it once or twice a month, its amazing. I'f I have it three or four nights a week, it loses its specialness.

Wouldn't the show experience be better if it were about quality rather than quantity?

But I guess to each their own.
Not big, you want to contribute? :)
Be my daddy?
