Rumored for October 8. Please god say it ain't so. There is no worse play to see a show. Merriweather would be amazing. MCI would be tolerable. Patriot Center = I'd rather skip it.
Beastie Boys at Patriot Center
Merriweather in October? Have things changed in the DC climate since I left?
October is still pleasant. Incubus is there Oct. 11th. Nissan has shows as late as Oct 17th. The Jane's Addiction show in 2001 was in October. It was chilly but still memorable. Personally, I'd rather be at Merriweather on a cold early autumn night than a sultry, steam bath July evening.
skip the beastie boys? what is wrong with you?
If you've ever seen a show at Pat Center, you understand.

i've only been to 1 show at each of these places i'm going to mention, but i'd much rather go to a show at the patroit center than at merriweather, constitution hall or the mci center. i only had bad experiences at all of those places.
i don't live in dc, though.

where did you hear that the beasties are coming to the patriot center?
yeah, where was this announced? I haven't heard anything yet.
i'd rather see a show at the pat center than at merriweather. i saw some really great shows there, like oasis and the cure, and definitely prefer it to an outdoor venue in maryland. but hey, i live in virginia.
I friggin' HATE the Patriot Center. They should do the MCI at that point. I'm really not a fan of concerts at either place, but getting to the PC is a pain in the ass. We need a venue on a Metro stop that is roughly that size. Too bad we don't have a venue like the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Now THAT would be cool.
Anybody who says they don't like Merriweather obviously wasn't in attendance on Friday for Curiosa. It's an outstanding place to see a "big show." Arenas are for sports and tractor pulls.
I would agree there…Merriweather was AWESOME, I think it has become my favorite outdoor venue as far as big outdoor places go. My sister, who has been to many of these places (among them Nissan, Hi-Fi Buys in Atlanta, Tweeter Center in Chicago, etc.), says that it was by far the coolest place to see a show of that size and capacity. I would rather see the Beasties play there.
Ditto to the positive comments on Merriweather; I wish there were more bands playing there I want to see this summer/Fall.
I, too, hate Patriot Center. Pretty amazing that the Beasties wouldn't sell out MCI, though R.E.M. didn't, did they….I swear, I don't get this whole concert thing.

To tell the truth, megs, I'd take Maryland traffic over VA traffic any day. I've never been caught as badly in MD and I have in VA (not including the beltway, which is just yuckola all around, and why I never get on it…)

tops for me on that list were montreal and holmdel, probably. atlanta's not too bad.

Originally posted by Bagalicious Tangster:no way!! everytime i drive to/through maryland, i get stuck in something. it's like people can't figure out the lane shift or something. kurosawa and i were inexplicably stuck in traffic for over an hour on the way back from the gig. va traffic might be heavy, but it is not nearly as hellacious as maryland traffic. *shudder*
